It is a great fan and definately moves alot of air for a very minimal investment Is your current setup not keeping things cool enough???

Works great, there are a few types, dual or single fan setups. The dual setup has it's own coil within the shroud/housing and wiring.

The cougar has the dual fans and some taurus.

Just a little trimming to mount, but well work the cost.

Good luck.

I used the taurus fan on my V8 swap and I love it. Cost me $20 from the junkyard. The most expensive part about the conversion was the $75 Amp relay out of a dump truck I bought from NAPA. I also used the thermostat control with the probe that goes into the radiator hose and turns the fan on at the desired temp. Here is a diagram of how I wired mine up, works great.

It does but I'd like to free up the engine some and the sound of the clutch fan drives me (even being hard of hearing) crazy.

Wow! Thanks for that info. I am a novice, anyway of getting some on site assistance when I take on this venture?

I'm running a Ford Contour fan (same motor as the Taurus fan, slightly different shroud dimensions) and it is great. My previous buggy I had the Taurus fan on it and had no problems.

They pull enough air on low to keep the engine cool, but I always wire up the high-setting on a switch just in case it's needed. Might be a good idea to put the high-speed solenoid/relay on a temperature switch so if it hits a higher temp it will kick on.

Anyways, the newer fans seem to be wired a little different. My current one requires power to both legs to get the high-speed. My old fan only required power to one leg or the other. The newer version made it a little trickier to wire and had to involve an extra relay after the solenoid.

Here's fan I'm currently running:

Here's the solenoid I'm running to keep the initial startup power draw low:

I'm pretty sure that solenoid is overkill, but it works extremely well. I don't register any drop on my voltmeter when the fan turns on.
It's also only $25 and seems much higher quality than the napa versions.

I live in North Ogden so anytime you want to come check it out and see how I did the whole thing let me know.

Here's my single speed taurus fan. This fan is massive overkill.

I also made an adjustable electronic temperature control circuit. It uses the existing factory coolant temperature sensor in a non intrusive way so that it still works for the PCM. This also makes it much cheaper and less of a hassle to install.
The relay I used is a standard automotive 60 amp sealed relay, I got it for under $2 http://www.boardrelays.com/Detail.asp?Product_ID=303.113_BU5084W
I'm using a standard 40amp 1/4" automotive ATO/ATC fuse, anything less blows on spinup.

I'd like to do something non intrusive. I'm not going to lie though, electrical scares the piss out of me. Looks mightily intimidating

Nah it's fun ;)
I could probably make another one of the circuits for you for a few bucks if you were interested. I don't think there's anything on the market that does it non-intrusive like I did; just an assumption though.

From his thread a week ago, I'm pretty sure MikeGyver is a circuitry genius.. so anything he does is going to be intimidating. :D

Nice i also live in north ogden and just put in half of a twin fan in my 4.3 toyota swap. I only have it wired up to a in cab switch and i know its not the best way maybe i could get a little help one day and do it right

Very much interested. Can this also still be done with a switch if I need to shut it off?
