extending the wheelbase

fortunately, the frame was boxed from the factory, all but the outside 2". I cut out the front crossmember and smoothed the rails, then I boxed the rest of the frame. The new front springs are wagoneers so I needed a 3" spring hangar up front. So I used 1/4" x 3" flat bar to build the frame out to the correct width.
The steering box will be mounted by sleeving those bolts and welding them to the frame.

Well where to begin? I think naming your frame extention is a little wierd, so I think I will leave that alone
So you are running waggy's good choise. Got the drop hanger for pinion angle I can tell. How/where are you putting the rear hanger?
Well it must be a real gift to have what, 18inches of frame sticking out in front of the grill? Fit a friggin storage shed on there. Why so far? How far is the tube into the frame? How do you plan to secure it over time? Just bolts, just welds? I have heard alot of problems come into play when extending frames, thats why I ask. Why are you doing this again?

Britney is the name of the jeep. I moved the perch hole 2.5 inches forward, only added .75 inches extension. The shackle hangar will be set up like 73-87 chev. Worked great on the yellow one.

Looks good! Is there a strength advantage to the pointed extensions that are welded to the original frame?

By theory, if you just make a verticle weld from top to bottom of the frame, you would weaken the longitudinal strength of the original frame. Plus you get more weld contact with the angles.

yeah I figured the greater bonding surface would strenthen it but I didn't know that about verticle welds. good to know considering I need to reinforce the front frame on mine when I get her back.

its cause the avalanche site is no more, and your pics may have gotten purged to save disk space...I think pics older than a certain date may have gotten backed up and purged...
