the tints are used to tell what type of fuel your using. Green is taxed for road us. Red is used for non highway use mostly use in agg and construction equipment. Dont get caught with red in your the system
What he said! and when i fill my semi up every 2-3 days it seems to me that normal diesel has more of a yellow tint, and the winter blend seems to be more greenish!

I've had my PSD since new in '99, here's what I have seen.

When empty with a mix of city/highway I turn out about 17 mpg. Highway only empty at 65 I'll get 19-21. Over 65 (2000 rpm's) 16-18 mpg. Towing 5-6K at 65-75 gets me about 15mpg. If I put the camper (3800#) on and tow 5-6K I see that mileage drop to 10-12 mpg. My truck is a 6spd manual and is still stock. I just barely put a flow through muffler and tymar type intake, but haven't towed with it yet. I have gauges and see 18psi boost max and the pyrometer usually runs 1200-1350 on parley's with my foot smashed to the floor in 4th.

I thought about a flip chip, but I am worried it will make the clutch slip. I don't want to put a clutch in it yet.

Just my $0.02 worth

Man, I knew I wanted a stick shift. :D I'm about 2 mpg less than you and notice the 'over' 2000 rpm hit same as you. Gauges are on the 'list' but the YJ is getting any extra money for a while.

Where are you at in WX?

across from the new church, where all the houses just went in. What about you?

A little culdesac just east of 11th west between 15th and 5th south (only east turn off 11th). So you're south of 15th, kinda by the park?

Scratch that......are you north of 15th? Roughly 14th west?

man those egt's seem high.

I hit 28 lbs of boost and my egt's have never hit higher then 1060, and thats with the camper and the jeepster in tow.

Is your sensor pre or post turbo?

I thought they were high too. I just figured the stock exhaust was a bit restrictive. I'll see what it does this year with the straight flow muffler.

Maybe more boost=more power=less egt??? All I know is what the gauges say. My probe is in the drivers side exhaust manifold. I would love to put a chip in it, but I feel for the weak OEM clutch.

My egts would really scare you then....no IC yet:D

I looked at my rpm last night to double check....The #'s quoted way back were about 200 high for the given speeds.

Just got 16 in mixxed driving on the last tank....best in a while

Sorry not meaning to hijack the thread, but how do you correct?
the way it was explained to me is, you add 10* for every lb of boost. Thus 28 lbs of boost would be 280* added to what the egt guage reads.

more air in more air out= less egt's. you notice a difference with the exhaust. if you can get a less restrictive air intake.

I think you just need to bomb it :D :D but if you don't bomb it at least add the chip, exhaust and BHAF all could be had for fairly cheap, and it should increase your MPG's if you don't have to much fun flooring it!!

James k- you should think about changing your pyro to pre turbo those numbers are not always true. I had mine post turbo and moved it, only 1 hour of work. It scared me how hot I was really getting on long pulls

I don't know how to explain the diff between my truck, yours, and your dads
but it's cheap and easy to move them to pre turbo. just my .02:)

I would not believe any of the high mpg's either mine gets 15-17 with 315's

All the diesel forum guy's make their truck's sound better then they are, it doesn't matter if it's a Cummins, D-max or Power Stroke. BUT I know all the diesel owners can agree on this........

they would never go back to a gasser!!!!:D

Yeah, I need to switch it. But when my dad told me what his was doing under similar conditions, I kinda lost interest in the idea. I really should switch it thou.

:ugh: I hate inner conflict, do it............no, don't do it............no, do it.................no, don't do it:eek:
