I have a '99 5.9 CTD with the NV4500 5 speed and I love what the truck can do. Pretty much anymore, it never leaves the yard without a trailer behind it. I think I am at 127K miles, I have replaced the clutch, upgraded the front end components, upgraded the exhaust, and oh yeah I did a ATS exhaust manifold...
Most of you know I regularly pull a gooseneck trailer with two 4.5K rigs on it and it works great, pulling, brakes/stopping, etc.
But I will also be the first to tell you the interior issues are there. HUGE problems no, but yeah they are there.
Regardless of what you are doing Ford or Dodge, I would say if you are going to pull heavy go with 5 or 6 speed...
