we have kenmores, bought from sears. we have only had one issue with it where the computer got messed up, was told it was from using to much soap and the suds where going up a tube and into the computer. I guess it is a common thing with the HE detergent, since it is more concentrated you don't have to use much, like we were told to only go to half way of the 1 mark in the cap. but it was fixed out of warranty, other than that they have been great. our washer is a top loader and dryer a front loader. we got them in feb. 07, other than that one problem they have been great.

Samsung, Sears on sale, 4 years, doing great. Some cautions: Vent from dryer must not be a 90 degree sharp bend, clean water from the bottom of washer seal after each wash, clean lint filter after each use of dryer. Have fun.

Had the Neptune, currently have a GE, hate them both with extreme prejudice. You got to do more loads of laundry because they can't handle big loads and even with continual cleaning of the traps and running the clean basket cycle the darn things still smell like a damp gym towel.
We bought LGs 6 1/2 years ago. And they've been really good. Abused them at times, when the kids came home from college... But otherwise they are overkill for just the two of us. They will do blankets and comforters though. I did have to replace the re-circulation pump this past summer, so I replaced the drain pump too. Make sure you use the HE detergents to get the best performance. Once a week run the machine with no load to keep it clean. A lot of people complain about front loaders smelling. They don't run a cleaning run and don't use the right soap, usually.

Dont forget about KSL. My brother and his wife bought a nice LG set for 800 bucks. They were pretty much new. The gal selling just needed them gone as she was moving.

Ditto, more or less. Some LG dude told us they are designed to not go all the way dry, so we have to make an adjustment each time. My wife loves them.

Pro tip, don't close the door on the washer completely tight when not in use. They are made to be a completely water tight, which means unless you let it air dry before closing it tight, it will always stink. We never run a "clean cycle" but we do always use HE detergent and ours has never stunk. I also have soft water which makes that detergent go even farther. We do have to clean the lint filter a lot on our drier (probably every 2-3 loads).

yeah, the new LG's have a magnetic door that clicks and leaves them about 1" open. Then you push on it all the way to close it. I guess that helps it dry out so it doesn't smell bad.
Unless its something like bed sheets that don't have much lint put off, I have to clean mine off every load…? It's always got a good layer on it…
I probably should do mine more often, but get tired of doing it so often so every 2-3 seems to be fine. Each load does put a good layer of lint on.

4-5 years on our frigidaire (?) affinity, love em. ours in slightly moldy in front where door seals but no bad smell.

Whirlpool Duet. Like it when it works. The washing machines control boards go bad. We are our second board in 5 years. My sister-in-law has the same problem with theirs
Just hit the extra dry button once and things should be fully dry, trust me, don't turn that up all the way or manually adjust the time, you CAN burn a tshirt in there!
And my LG washer is quiet until the spin cycle. I have it set to the slower speed now, but if you let the thing run at top speed it will make a helluva racket...
Should have got the pedestals.

I also regret not getting pedestals for mine. At the time when we bought ours the pedestals where only a base and not a drawer so I could not drop another 400$ on the purchase.

LG for me and my wife. Bought them almost a year ago and no problems. They do a really good job cleaning even the toughest stains. They both have the steam feature, but i don't use it often. No issues with the mildew smell in the washer.
My wife and I are both tall people, so rather then dropping the ridiculous amount of money on the pedestals, I built some that are about twice as tall as the factory ones. I can get pictures if you would like.

We got lg when we built our home 2+ years ago. Never had a problem. Very very quiet. No vibrations. The steam feature is nice when needed. It's got so many options I don't know what to do with them. Even with all the options it is very self explanatory and sets the time for you after it weighs the load. They are direct drive and have a ten year warranty.
