I have been looking for a set of headers that will work too. I ordered a set of shorty headers for a Silverado. They didn't work with my frame so I found some for a turbo application. They actually are supposed to exit out the front of the motor but I flipped them around. They were still not quite right. They were a little long and I needed them to exit more downward. My friend is keeping his TIG welder at my house. I have tried it a couple times. I wouldn't say I have mastered it by any means. I cut and welded up the headers though. They came out OK. I guess the real test will be when I run it and see if they leak. uploadfromtaptalk1397009830294.jpguploadfromtaptalk1397009843821.jpg It is still closer to the floor board than I want but I think I can clearance the floor a little and angle the down tube.

So I got the suspension how I want it. I have it tacked into place. I need a few more tacks but then I can cycle it and see what hits what. But at least I have it on tires:cool:

I just have some 2x2 tube holding it at ride height.

Looks real good! Those TIG welds are fine, from what I can see. Nice work!

I didn't show the picture of the other side:mad: From my very official classes that I took online (youtube) my rod was too big. Also I didn't have the gas on and it blew a hole in the tube that I had to fill. It is definitely something I want to get better at. The control you have is awesome! It looks a lot better than my first mig welds:)

you are doing a great job, I am enjoying watching the build

Thanks. I like working on my junk but I am always by myself. Sometimes I can't decide if it's a good idea or not. It's nice to get feedback by like minded people not just neighbors that come over stare, scratch their heads, and go "that's quite a machine your building there." The guys that I wheeled with moved over to denver. That's part of the reason I am going more "expo" on this one. I will be doing more family stuff, camping and sight seeing. I still want to do a couple Moab trips and OSRC though.

I love to TIG, my first welder was a TIG, so all of my projects for years were all TIG welded with mostly Stainless, I made a gas tank for my quad out of aluminum, it looks to crapy to show any pics....

I have been tossing around the idea of making a tank for this. I can't find any that I like. I want to mount it under the floor in the back behind the axle. I had one made for my last buggy from Boyd welding. It wasn't super expensive but it fit in the only space I had, which was a odd wedge shape, and it still had decent capacity. I don't know if I trust my skills enough for that. I might price the aluminum and see if it is worth it.

So this is the part that I'm not sure on. I want to run the newer style fenders and hood off of a Tacoma. The Tacoma is a little wider and has different body lines. Has anyone seen this or tried it themselves? Here is a pic with the parts clamped on for looks.uploadfromtaptalk1398134213371.jpguploadfromtaptalk1398134257059.jpg

Have been really busy at work, and when I've been home its sleeping or catching up on family stuff. Got a couple hours to do some cage stuff. My brain wasn't working so I only got the sides bent up. uploadfromtaptalk1400472859250.jpguploadfromtaptalk1400472874220.jpg

Cage looks good! As to your Taco front end issues, it might be easier if you started with a fiberglass 1-piece front end like would be found on a desert truck. They make conversion clips that let you put the newer 2nd gen front clip/lights/grille on a 1st gen Tacoma, which I'd assume is closer to matching your 'Runner than what you've got now. I didn't look very hard, but maybe they even have a conversion front clip that is made specifically for your gen 'Runner...? Either way, the fiberglass would be a lot easier (IMO anyways) to customize for your application than the steel parts you have now.

I thought about that route. I think that would be the cleanest nicest way to go but I'm planning on wheeling it and I would be sick if I had to replace it every couple trips. I can fenders for less than 50 bucks so for now I think I am going to try and make the steel panels work.

Cut the floor out of the back. I will put in my own floor. I am thinking about doing a lower and upper floor for storage and so I can still throw a sleeping bag back there if I want. That will be down the line though. The shocks are going to be tight. How much extra space do I need to account for coils? This is my first time using them.

Finally have it as a roller! I pulled all of the jack stands out. I wish this was my ride height:) uploadfromtaptalk1405224215539.jpgI worked on it all day but it looks pretty much the same. It was all boring stuff, cycling the suspension and making some tweeks to some mounts. I also squared up the tubing that I already installed.
