be prepared to order via pointing at the pictures and items on the menu if you don't speak Spanish.

Seems like most Good mexifood is like this. It is found in some dive where you are the only engrish speaker and they speak very little honky. Those are my favorites.

The is a little dive up here that has a KILLER shrimp hotdog!

We have also been pretty disappointed in the Mexican food market laty. Especially when you buy a city deal or something like that, drive 40 minutes and it sucks. We've always been happy with mama chus at the mouth of provo canyon band recently we discovered Maria Bonita in Orem. It's very good and huge portions. Our least favorite was voted number one in Utah valley, Milagros (mila gross).

Chungas on 2nd south and 9th west in SLC is amazing...it's a glorified taco cart in an old gas station but they are nice, CLEAN and their al pastor is amazing!!! It is a great lunch spot and their portions are big boy sized!!! I just went there for the quesdilla al pastor and I am a happy camper.

edit with Cody quote

Red Iguana would be the best. There is a reason they built a 2nd one around the corner and they both have a line out the door every night.
The Al Pastor at Chungas on 200 S and 900 W. is ridiculously good too.

This is what Im talking about. Kind of why I am shying away from Red Iguana. I see that being pretty Amerimexican food

I don't know if I'd call it good Mexican but I do enjoy Lone Star, but I'm with Carl, I enjoy a smothered burrito from the various La Puente (Fuente, Fountain, etc). I haven't had Red Iguana in a long time (probably more than 10 years) but when I did, I didn't like it. I may have just gotten a crappy dish, not sure.

Good Mexican food doesn't exist in Utah... at least that I have found....

coming form and Arizona boy that lived off the stuff growing up

WRONG! Amazing Mexican was just sent to Utah from Texas via Los Cucos. 10600 S & State St.. INCREDIBLE.

Everyone needs to check it out. The local Mexican food scene has grown a bit stagnant, and Los Cucos is a shot in the arm for those who love good Mexican food. This is the first location for Los Cucos outside of Texas, where they have 10-12 locations.

Its getting hard to find.

We used to LOVE Lorenas in Woods Cross. They have recently changed their chili verde along with some other things and frankly it sucks now.

Weve been to a lot of places and just havent been satisfied. There has to be better mexican around besides Rancheritos and Paco Taco.

SOOO....

whats some of your favorite places?

Isn't that an oxymoron?

I like Casa Del Rey for the Chile Rellenos, the chips and salsa, and the great owner. He checks on every table, every time I've been there.

I'll second Sami on this one! Been there twice in the last 5 days! Lol it's pretty freakin good and a lot of food for a decent price. The stuffed avacodos are bomb.com!

x3 or 4 on Chungas! Their Al Pastor rocks! I had it in burrito form (smothered with cheese for you la *** folk). It was ridiculously good like Cody said. Lonestar Taqueria is good as well. And since Los Cucos is about .6 miles from my house, I had better get down there and get some good eatin!

Great info, and glad to hear there are a couple new places I can try down in this neck of the woods. Will definitely try Los Cucos in the next little while. Love Mexican food and could eat it daily.
