Sell vs. Sail vs. Sale

"Sell" I'd like to sell my item to make a profit.

"Sail" I'd like to sail my boat off into the sunset.

"Sale" I'm going to have a sale on Sunday to sell my sail boat. :D

On a similar but less practical note is this:

Pare vs Pair vs Pear

"Pare" to remove the outer coating/layer; to peel.

"Pair" a group of two similar items.

"Pear" I'm going to pare a pair of pears.

And from when I lived in Italy:

"Pasto" general term for any meal.

"Pasta" a flour- and egg-based food, produced in many varieties and typically serves with sauce.

"Pesto" a sauce typically made with basil, pine nuts, olive oil, and grated Parmesan blended together.

"Mi piace il pasto di pasta al pesto."

When someone says, "How are you?", and you respond by saying "Good, how are you?" You're wrong. The correct answer is, "Well".

All to often I hear something similar to this..... "I like pizza better." This is incorrect; you should say, "I like pizza more." When you say you like something better then something else you are quantifying how good you are at liking the object, not how much you like it.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Lol here's one.

Her line was "lil bro is trying to sale his dirtbike"

of course, I can't just keep my mouth shut.

Can't tell if you're being sarcastic or not... But either way my response was:

"In your brother's line is it a noun (sale) and in your line it is a verb (sell.) I know, I'm an asshole for even saying anything, I just get OCD sometimes."

... And then she fixed her post.
