I am checking into building a grand wagoneer, but I havent ever really seen many of them, especially built up. If I could get find someone who has one that I can talk to and see pictures and get any sort of ideas. I would really appreciate it.

The Ideas are limitless. It is all about how much money you want to spend. The one Grand Wagy I seen that I thought was perfect, scraped the whole thing and turned it in to a full tube buggy. Mine cost alot more than it was worth to do what I did. Spring over is good. cut the fenders as much as you can. Relocate the front shock mounts so that you can have longer shocks, more stuff and more flex. I used the stock shock mounts and flipped them upside down and cut the top off and made a new hole for the shock mount. Flipped the t-case mounting bracket so that it kinda sits flat. Extended brake lines, then custom drive lines. I have a 4in block in the rear and 4in spring lift that I hate because it has no flex, so if I did it again, I would flip the shackles or do some sort of shackle relocation project and use some super flexy springs.

If I had unlimited funds I would do a 12 valve cummins with and Alison, an atlas with some sweets 60s. fully adjustable four link with air bag overload/towing assistance, rear fuel cell, chop the top and have a full role cage with a custom soft top or something like the t top design on the new wranglers.

Thanks... any help always works. I havent really seen many of them, so I was clueless about them. How do they wheel? Have you ever had any problems with the Carb while wheeling?

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
You need to get over to the Rad Jeeper and check out the Wag there. It comes back from the paint shop tomorrow (kind of a metalic brown with ghost flames). 401, 37's, very, very custom. A ton of good ideas.

In my opinion, I think that when set up right they will wheel just like a the new 4 door rubicons. They are about the same size, and my 360 eventhough it is kind of hard to start for the wife in the morning, has about the same hp as the jeep v6 and the 2bbl has never flooded after it has been warmed up. I have stood mine on its tail, have about stood it on it's nose and just about had it on it's side too. I have wanted more HP, better springs, wider axels and all, but for what, I ask, I aired down the 35mtr's to 7psi on the rockcrawlers and took it up in the hills around Goshen and Santaquin, and had a ball. I would have tore up the trail alot more if I would have had more HP but I doubt I would have got any further on the trail than I already had.

For rockcrawling I would really like wider axels, lockers and lower gears to run any type of side hill'n on slick rock.
For now I have a hard time wanting to do anything costly because it really won't take much to make it Moab ready. If I was to do it over I would find a balance between the axels I have and the hight of lift and flex. Gear it lock it and wheel it untill something breaks then up grade if really needs it.

I had a 89' grand wagoneer and I really love it except for the springs I used. I had a 6" all spring lift from BJ's off-road and it sure made it look good but it did not flex.

I sold that and now I am on to a 76' cherokee and with a custom suspension. Go with spring over on the frond axle and a shackle flip on the rear. If you want a ton of flex in the rear use 63" chevy springs and inboard the springs. I am also putting chevy 3/4 ton axles under it for a little more width.

ifsja.org was mentioned before, that will have more information than you want to know.
