Those look like the should have 600 lb ft going through them? Needle bearings weren't gone but they would be soon. One was actually broken into a half sized piece.20230420_213710.jpg20230420_213654.jpg

There's a little "burn" going on on one of the cap

The first diagram makes MUCH more sense to me than the lower one. I'm not the sharpest wiring guy in the world though

I didn't like the "always on" fan thing so I put a ignition-on relay between the fuse off the battery and the relay.20230607_203519.jpg

I seem to have a Contour fan.

Seems like the perfect time to go serpentine...

My piggybank just bought a ticket to Melbourne for Sept. Serpentine (I kind of need to know what accessories I want to run?) and fuel injection will have to wait a bit.

I did find a water pump pulley in my Buick stash. Smaller diameter (should drive the water pump impeller faster making cooling even betterer?) and two groove (part of my upcoming power steering project).

Lame..
The LS2 now living in my Rambler came with fuel injection AND a serpentine setup.. Just sayin...... Seems like the ideal fix for both issues...lol

Im not sure why but my buddy killed 2 pulleys like that on a Pontiac 400.
We decided that the pulleys were just a little to thin of metal and the slight mis-alignment or maybe the stock pulleys had a slight wobble and that was eventually slightly flexing it back and fourth till it cracked.

Anyway,
I had a stack of water pump pulley spacers on the shelf so I took the thickest one (about .125) and tigged it to the face of the cracked pulley, the second one just had a little crack and hadn't completely failed like yours did, He never had another issue. I would bet just buying a chrome cheapie pulley would have solved it just as good though, probably made out of thicker chinesium material than the factory used.

I wasn't watching the tach as I wasn't on it hard hard... That's not a good sign. I'm hoping I just had some mis-installed pushrods that are just out of spec. That'd be best for the engine. I'll be calling TA performance tomorrow and bending their ear about what length pushrod I should be running with that cam. Assuming I have an operable engine, I'll check and recheck each push rod to verify it's on spec. Probably run a camera down my oil galley and see that all is ok in the lifter valley. Depending on what I see there, I'll pull the intake off or not16902467524865405793711857515131.jpg

Here's a link to those pushrod length checkers I was talking about.

I do think your idea to pull the intake and looking if the lifters are F'd is a good idea.

The intake does need to come off.

I'm glad this didn't happen in Evanston at the track
