There is nothing worse than paying top dollar for a piece of crap. It's like buying a genuine "made in Japan" clutch that has a Chinese throw-out bearing that lasts about month... Boy sure had fun replacing that one AGAIN!

Sorry about the luck Napa usually offers some pretty darn good stuff. It's a total loss though... I'd (if I were you) most likely just give up on it and swap in that 4BT

Cool, thanks for the part #'s. I'm sure 'whomever' gets this motor would appreciate the OEM starter. I'd also appreciate having extra $$ in my wallet.

...I didn't want to spend the money on an OEM starter, since this Toyota motor is getting yanked soon in exchange for a 4BT. I figured the NAPA starter would last for atleast a couple months before I did the engine swap.

Yep, I understand how you feel! I'd love to just yank out that Toyota engine & drop the 4BT in, but I still need a ton of pieces for the swap. Might as well keep the Toyota running for a little longer, even if I do have to swap starters twice.

I ended up ordering the contacts & plunger from cruiserdan on IH8Mud.com, he works for a factory Toyota Parts dealer in NM. Good price, good service. Once I get the pieces I'll rebuild my starter & try to return the crappy, NEW, NAPA one.

Go to checkers their starters are awesome! especially when the cylinoid literally blows up and burns up you power wire and kills ur battery!! twice none the least!!

napa has cool old dudes with wierd perverted jokes and know what the parts are named. not their fault they are crap. and checkers has a bunch of punks that you have to explain what the hell area you are even dealing with. and napa at least has a bolt and what not selection unlike checkers. wait, they do have screws for random crap...and alot of wierd wanabe pimp your ride crap.
