NAPA starters suck!!!

I just replaced the starter in our FJ80 and 2 weeks later it's dead. The starter in the FJ80 is a M-F'er to replace too, I'm not looking forward to doing it again. Those bastards better give me my money back, I'm going to just rebuild my old one, like I should have done to begin with. If they won't return my money, that starter is going thru their front window. :mad2::mad2::mad2:

That sucks Greg.

Napa is the only place I've had luck with starters or alternators. :-\

Where can a guy get a quality starter or alternator these days???

That sucks... I've used a lot of their parts over the years. That said for 3FE GR starters I usually go with the OEM remans. ~$200 as I recall and they seem to last forever!

if he part is HARD to change... go oem or reman oem... but... I think that if a part is a total PITA.... get OEM.

You might want to drop that your the owner operator of a massive bulletin board...... I mean... you have the ear of thousands of people... I would give you free parts.... lol

Can you get FJ80 starter contacts Kurt? I have no problem rebuilding the starter myself, I have rebuilt dozens of Toyota starters when I was turning wrenches. Last starter I rebuilt was my old Dodge, in a hotel parking lot in Iowa.

I didn't want to spend the money on an OEM starter, since this Toyota motor is getting yanked soon in exchange for a 4BT. I figured the NAPA starter would last for atleast a couple months before I did the engine swap.

I feel your pain greg. 2 weeks ago I bought calipers from them only to have one explode in my face and they said I had to pay a core charge of $75 when I returned it to get another one. After talking to the manager and 2 hours of waiting i finally was headed out with my new one.

im not a big fan of reman when i was working on heavy equipment i found out that most places that rebuild stuff only replace whats wrong with it and not rebuild the whole thing

Henstrom's. Nothing but good things to say about their stuff, whether new or rebuilt. (they rebuild stuff right there, custom weird stuff too)

Nothing I stock, but ~$15 at the dealer. Should be a 28226‑72010

I say you buy a brand new OEM starter, whoever gets your motor might appreciate it!
