H1 beadlocks

I need some info about H1 duel beadlocks.

I have heard they may rub on my steering arm of my new 60/14 combo because of the 7" backspacing. Is this true, and if so what is the best remedy? I have thought about recentering them, but can you do that with the 12 bolt version, which is what I'm getting? Has anybody on here recentered them, and how difficult is it?

Can I do something to the steering arms so they clear without weakening them too much? Or would it be better to go hi-steer (something I'd like to do eventually, but don't have the money for now), who make a good Chevy 60 hi-steer kit and what's a reasonable price.

Also how tough are these wheels, I found a place which sells rebar reinforcing rings for $7 each. Are they really needed? Also, are the military magnesium beadlock inserts good to use, or are aftermarket better (for $45 each)?

Anything else I need to know?

Thanks.

Here's a decent setup.

Rockstomper is the source for my arms. Scott will help you out.

Check out pirate, there is a lot of info on the h1's there. I have heard that the outer lip on the rim is very weak and everybody i have heard swears by either the rebar kind or the other weld on lip reinforcers. They can be custom cut with "green jeep" in it if you want.

Thanks Mbryson, did you make the drag link and tie rod, if so, out of what? Does the hi steer effect the king pin?

Exalted: I think I'll do the rebar, seems like good insurance at least. I hate trying to find stuff on Pirate, there is sooo much I never seem to find the specific answers I need.

It doesn't really affect the kingpin. I've still got the stock caps on mine and then the arm fits over the top. There are other arms with ackerman angle built in that are a cap/arm in one. I don't know the pricing on those.

Draglink and tie rod are made out of tube. .281 wall (I think it's 1.25"?) that I got from Rocklogic quite some time ago. (I need to buy a chunk for a new draglink. I've 'mucked' mine up a little.)

To run the magnesium inserts on a low psi rock crawler you need to cut the run flat part off or you will destroy your tire.... the fun thing about magnesium is that it burns, have fun cutting them off :D

I don't see any reason why the 12 bolt rims can't be recentered.

So just buy the tubing, tap it (right and left thread, accordingly) and screw in the jam nut and TREs?

Wanna make me some:D

Shoot me a price would you? Tie rod and drag link, oh and maybe a track bar too.

What kind of material? type of ends (heim or rod end?)? how long? If this is for a Chev 60, I can take the measurements off mine if you're using the same offset arms I am. If not, you should probably measure yours and get those to me.

Chevy 60/H1 wheels. I'd need to wait a couple months to get actual measurements, I don't see the axles under the jeep until February-ish.

H1 wheel rings

I would go with the wheel rings and yes you are right the outter lip is weak and it dents up easy. As for the mag it does bolt together, but if you go with the pvc incerts it is a weight issue, but you should read on pirate and find out for yourself.
