Hall of shame (but not in my opinion)

Traded the 2012 JK Rubicon for an on F-150 Friday. I was spending too much time away from my best friend, the woman I love, and the mother of my children.
We agreed that if we had a vehicle that could tow a trailer that we could spend time together in the great outdoors.

I think doing what needs done to spend more time with your wife is never a bad decision.

Just tell me you got the Ecotec...

Thanks Kevin,
and yes, I did get the ecoboost.
love the engine, I drove up little cottonwood canyon, set cruise on 40mph, it settled in at 4th gear and 1750 rpm, and never downshifted. 5-7 % grade, and went never above 1800 rpm. Mind you, this is a 6000lb+ truck.
Filling a 36 gal fuel tank will take some getting used to.

Oh,
and 3.55 e-locker in the rear.

This thread is about that decision and I have already derailed it. If anyone wants me to start an f-150/ecoboost thread I will be happy to do it, but this thread is about understanding what is important in my life....

I'm always striving to find a happy place with the people that are important in my life. The F-150 Sounds like it can help bring what you love to where you love in life and even though it may not be able to take you everywhere you may want to go it may take you to the places that you need to go. A lot of life is enjoying where you are at this moment.

The jeep was rated for 3500# and struggled with half that. My wife wants a shower, toilet, kitchen, bed, etc.

Wheeling is not gone from my life though, my younger daughter, who drove more than half the time on last years hole-in-the-rock trip, now has her learners permit and wants a 4x4 of some sort (I'll start that thread later).

You're all WEAK SAUCE!
seems like chit chat if we don't hear about the eco-boost. I'm interested to hear mpg numbers. I've been hearing that ford's claims are inflated, I'd like to see real numbers.

I had a 4 door long bed with 3.31's

The best I averaged Hwy was 24-25mpg

Average around town 17-18mpg

Towing my 4runner to Moab 12mpg

EDIT: Also forgot to add, i've heard from other owners MPG gets better around 10k miles after the motor loosens up a bit. I had only put 5500 miles on mine before I decided a JKU was more fitting for me

I've just been reading the trucks computer, yeah, I know hand calculated is probably better, but doing it that way you still have to believe the computer for the miles driven.
I'm still on the original tank the dealer filled at noon on Friday. I've driven over 500 miles on that tank including back and forth over south mountain about 6 times, up little cottonwood, through the Uintas past mirror lake to Evanston and back, and right now the computer is showing 18 mpg (I reset it when I picked it up on Fri.) with 120 miles to empty. I'll compare to gallons used when I fill up.

Totally Awesome
I had a 2012 with 5.0. Crew Cab 4x4.

It was my work truck for awhile. I was getting 21-22 on the computer. I usually drove 75 mph when I was on the clock. no need to hurry when you get paid by the hour.

I had two full size dirtbikes in the back and gear to St George Friday and was getting 20 at 75 mph. At 80 it dropped to 17. Around town I get 16s. I honestly dont know that you get any better than the 5.0 but I do love the power. Is it worth the extra money? Only because of resale. Would I get another? You bet your ass I would.
