I'm going to have a dash cut for the Jeep. Trying to get a "finished" look after five years of driving it. Here's what I've got so far. Just wondered if anyone has any ideas that I might incorporate that I haven't thought of.

#3 also puts the switches closer to the driver. (but maybe hides stuff behind a steering wheel?)

How does your A pillars get to the floor? Many of them pass the sides of the dash and make the glove box unusable. If I could do mine again I would move the glove box towards the center more and/or make it smaller so there was never a conflict.\

As for guage location I also like the two larger guages on the top row (exhibit 3) where they are easier to see.

With me having the glove box cut in, I was going to make sure that it does clear the cage. I'm also going to have the whole dash angled up a little. I'm struggling with having the gauges angled towards the driver. I am going to have the gauges on a tipout hinge to make the wiring/troubleshooting easier when it's installed.

I kind of like the idea of the pull handle e-brake in the dash. Kind of fits the "Willys" theme a little.

CB and/or 2 meter will be in the Tuffy overhead console along with a dope (er, dome) light.

I'll also be building a low profile center console that will incorporate a radio, some lockable storage and kind of "flow" with the angled dash. The center console I have now is GIGANTIC tall and is just in the way more than it's worth with my kids climbing over it and such. I may pillage parts off of that to make the console look a little more finished? We'll see how it goes. I've also thought of having both pieces powder coated or Rhino-Lined to be able to do a little body work on them. Make things perty.

Here's kind of what I've got at the moment. I can only afford to do this once (both $ wise and patience wise, I'd imagine)

Could you do a in dash speaker for you CB? Oh wait it is already over head, you won't need an external speaker...

let me think on this, you already have the dome light and CB covered. I hate trying to hear a CB from under the dash when you have a somewhat healthy V8

Cigarette lighters? or at least places to plug in Cell phones, GPS, Ipod, 12 volt electric blankets for winter wheeling....

You could wire in a couple and keep a clean look while you are doing it, so you don't have to hack it in later.

Go with a 10 meter radio instead of a normal CB. Give me a ring when you are ready to purchase, do NOT buy a radio from a truckstop. There are much better/cheaper options. I normally can get at least 10 miles range with mine. Lots of days I can double that.

Mine's not exactly healthy, but it does make the same kind of noise.

That's a good idea. I've wanted those before but have forgotten.

I don't see a stereo at all....

That'll be in the center console along with some speakers. Probably have a pair that face rearward.

Does that work on the same frequencies a CB operates on? If it does, tell me how much and how to get some $ to you.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
If you want an ebrake that comes out of the dash, the fj40's used one and also the d50 pickups come to mind. Either could be modified to pull through the dash pretty easy.
