I am in the process of building up a JK and have questions about the transfer case. The JK is not a Rubi, I have purchased a set of Rubi D44 axels, with 4:88 gears. I plan on running 37". I need some help on the transfer case. I want something that I can still drive down the freeway as well as hit the trails (its not my daily driver). What brand and gears would be good?

There are no options for transfer case gears for that. If you want a deeper low range, you're limited to purchasing a Tcase out of a JK Rubicon.

Paul, I still have the TJ, planning on selling it soon. I am going with the 4 door JK.

As soon as I have the JK together I will make a trip to Price.

Paul, I check to see if there were any other TJ's for sale on RME. I could not find any. I am hoping to get $16K out of it.

if the jk has an auto trans, you could look into getting a rubicrawler from advance adapters (same people as the atlas). It fits into the tail housing and will effectively give you a 3 speed transfer case. you will have 2.72:1 like stock low range, double that with the 2.72 of the rubicrawler and get 5.xxx:1 and then have the 1:1 high range. and that will be about $1000 cheaper than an atlas if I'm not mistaken.

rockchucker - I looked at the Advance Adapters website and found the Rubi-crawler planetary crawl box. Is this what you are referring to? I like the idea of having three low rang gears. I read up on the planetary crawl box, but I dont know enough about them. Where is a good place to find additional information?

yep that is what i was referring too. the greatest thing about these, or the biggest thing that sets them apart from other planetaries you can install (klunev underdrive, black box) is it goes in the empty tailend of the transmission, so no driveshaft mods are required. very cool. but again, it only works if you have the stock AUTO trans that came in the JK.

I called Sam at Tera. He was going through the Tera t-case. My thought was with the Rubi-Crawler box you get 3 low rang gears, but you have multiple levers to work. Do you know anyone running the Rubi-crawler box? Would like to know what they think?
