hm... odometer was replaced and now reads 027k miles. It's a good deal, and it could end up being a great vehicle, or it could end up being a lemon. here are the problems:

- bad spark plug (which requires removing intake)
- rear brakes are bad (no big deal)
- brake MC bad
- trans sensor needs to be replaced ($100 part)

It's tempting...

Have to keep the rims

Worried at all how the owner treated it? kept up on PM's? I would be worried about that one

Do the f150s get decent mileage? I only checked out Chevies because the 5.3 motor is so bulletproof. I know nothing about Fords. Which Ford motor will get me the best MPG?

The 5.3 is a pretty decent motor, but driving each, I just like the f*rd truck better. We have both at work. I drove a 1500 crewcab with the 4.8 out to a mine near Elko and back yesterday. Not bad, but not as comfy as my F150. The 4.8 has zero bottom end. Also, it doesn't corner as well as my F150.

I get 14-15 in my '08 with the 5.4, but that's jackrabbit starts, 90+ across Nevada, etc My brother in law gets high teens in his '11. I don't know if he has the 5.4 or the 5.0(?). I don't know what the real world numbers are from the Ecoboost V6.

I have an '11 with the 5.0 (5.4's stopped in 10) and get 16-17 around town 20ish hwy high as 23. I had an ecoboost for about a year I would say on average 16-17 city as high as 25 mpg hwy. My ecoboost had 3.31's 5.0 has 3.73's. 5.0 gets (mildly) better mileage towing, but has to work harder

I'm trying to, but that joker is saying he's not sure he wants to sell it after all. So I'm sitting here waiting to see if he will sell it to me or not. My weekend plans kind of depend on his answer, so i'm looking around at other stuff in the mean time.

I know. People can be super flakey. He had an ad on expedition portal and an ad on Craigslist. But he is having a tough time deciding to sell it or not. I'm more worried he will sell it out from under me while I'm driving there.

^ you know how to find all the cool rare vehicles. That's awesome.

No land rovers, they're not reliable enough for me. They look cool, but the maintenance costs and parts availability are a deal-breaker.

It's getting bad. I saw a nice montero parked at the Real Salt lake game. I took out a piece of paper to write a note asking if they'd want to sell it. I didn't have a pen so we had to use lipstick...

... i'm getting desperate.

monteros and 1st gen 4runners are the only vehicles that are speaking to me right now. I'm going to go test drive a v8 runner and a gx470 tonight to see how I like them.

Did you buy mikeguyver's tig welder?

Totally Awesome
Dude step over to the dark side. Get a Disco 2 or LR3. you won't be bored ever again with the same old toyota build. just do it.

Come up to Layton and I'll give you a ride in an LR3 and Disco 2 off- road. Hell i'll even let you try them out. Even in stock form they will out do many modified vehicles.

I even have a 1994 Range Rover Classic that I need to get rid of. Between my buddy and I we have 5 Land Rovers.

Land Rovers and Range Rovers are out of the question. I don't have the patience or budget to be replacing stuff monthly on them. I appreciate the suggestion though. On paper they're awesome. Aluminum V8s, solid axles (though I prefer independent suspension), and a cool interior.

Well, we owned our LR3 for several years and the only thing I ever did on it was oil changes, brakes, and tires. I did add a small lift (like 1.5") and slightly larger tires. I can't complain at all...however, to be fair the reason we got rid of it is my fear that the "big" repair was looming around the corner. Oh, and LR3s are independent suspension all around.
