Help me Plan a Swell Trip: Aug 21-23

I'm thinking of heading to the swell on Saturday 4/11. I have a friend who has been bugging to go. She will be towing a rather large 5th wheel toy-hauler. Is the Wedge overlook going to be a problem with the trailer? We will probably come in from Castle dale.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Those roads were fine for a trailer. I don't recall camp spots big enough to park a trailer though. That doesn't mean there aren't any though.

I forgot abouth this thread. I should post some pictures. We had a blast on our first swell trip.

I was at the Wedge last weekend and didn't see anywhere suitable for a fifth wheel trailer. That doesn't mean you couldn't find somewhere to cram it, but it might be tough getting it in and out. Have a look at satellite maps of the campground and you'll see what I mean, it's just a maze of juniper and cedar bushes with small clearings in between.

I just got home from the swell. It is a cool area! There are 9 spots inside the "Wedge", and some of them far from the actual edge might be ok, but the best bet is to camp along the roads heading into the intersection, then drive to the wedge without the trailer.

There is a campground about 3 miles from the Wedge overlook where you could park a 5th wheel easy. When you get to the "T" where you go right for the overlook, go left and the campground is right there. My rig there last spring.

DAA, any chance you could mark the spot on Google maps for me? or at least identify it by the road #? Thanks

on the satalite view it looks like it shouldn't be a problem to get a 28' 5th wheel in there. there are a couple of rigs in the photo of the area.

I've never learned how to use google earth. And don't know any road #'s for anywhere. But it's pretty easy to find as it's the only option you have when you get to the last turn for the overlook. It's a T intersection with a sign pointing to the right for the overlook and to the left for the campgound. Go left and you're almost immediately there.
