Wow that wood really changes the look of the trailer. I like the color it should be great for keeping it from looking dirty. Smart move running it at a 45 it will make the space feel larger

I am slightly angry and camper world, so I thought I would share my letter to them..
Not that any of you should actually care..

I would like to share with you my sad story of disappointment. I needed a toilet valve (Part #13168) and searched on line for it. I can have it mailed to my door for prices between $22-28 all day long. I like to shop local first, and called state trailer supply who has it for about $25. I live just across the freeway from your Draper, Utah store and thought I would check it out. The price on your website was about $25 also, I called to make sure it was in stock.. 4 phone calls and 2 voice messages later I was still unable to reach a parts person. I drove over, found the part and went to pay. The part was $30! imagine my surprise. I explained that your website has it for $25, and the nice lady told me I would have to be a member for that price.. I asked if she could price match another local business. She said she could, if I was a member. Needless to say I did not buy the part.
Member ships are not a bad way of getting discounts. But why should I have to PAY a extra fee to receive a FAIR price on a part? This makes no sense. If I were to get a discount from an already average price, that would be swell. But it is not the case. I am sorry to say that your company has lost a customer. I spend a lot of money each year on camping supplies, and am associated with many others who spend a lot of money each year. I would implore you to change your policy of inflated prices to those who are not 'members' of your company.
Sincerely,
Brian

I'm interested to hear if they reply at all. My guess is it'll be ignored completely....but good on you for at least writing.

No fridge or shower?

I know you don't mind smelling like a weedwacker, but I didn't know you liked rotten food?

Yeah, no fridge. It's kind of crazy though, we found this thing called a 'cooler'. Supposedly it keeps food cold and such. Relatively new technology.

The only reason I say this is that a cooler has the same or larger footprint as most RV fridges.
Were will your proposed non-electric cooling contraption live?

The fridge hasn't worked since we bought the camper anyway, so we are already accustom to using the coolers. Typically toss them in the door on the floor right before we head out, and keep them under the trailer just outside the door when there.

There is no doubt that removing the fridge and shower is not going to be popular to many, and may be a deterrent to a future buyer, but my level of happiness with the camper has increased 150%. And at the end of the day, it is my opinion that really only matters.

The purpose of the entire remodel was to give the wife and I a place to be together after the kids were in bed. I believe we have created a solution in the most feasible way.
A major plus that we didn't realize until I placed all the cushions and bedding in their respective places is that our bed up top is no longer the catch-all (kids blankets, toys, riding gear, etc) in between sleeping/eating/sleeping/eating. We now have places for 5-6 people who are laying down, AND an additional 6-7 People who could be sitting. Previously it was 5-6 sleeping, OR 6-7 sitting. With a family of 5 we have effectively doubled our living spaces!

Got some more done tonight. I was struggling with how to finish the beds to make it a little more comfortable than cold plywood. Wallpaper and paint both didn't sit right with me. I decided to use the thin auto type carpet. It made a very soft feel, and finished it off well I think. I had some large pieces of memory foam that I cut to use for the mattresses, and had my wife sow up some covers. I still have to do some trimming obviously, but here are a couple pics.

That's shaping up nicely. What's left to finish?

Ive got to get some more carpet to wrap the corner by their heads (next to the stove) just to give it a better finished look.

Today I finished some wood work in the bathroom, got a latch to hold the door open and kids in, moved the DVD/tv so the kids can see it from their beds, got the toilet valve and toilet installed, got the plumbing lines installed, and finished some tank vents.

I have also pulled the whole back deck of to begin building it back up with side rails to better hold dirt bikes.

Picked up 160' of metal today, and got some work done on the cargo area. I dont remember why, but originally the deck was 7'9" wide. I wanted side rails to keep the bikes safer, so I took the whole deck off..
I framed up an 8' deck this time. I am hoping the extra width will aid in my backing up. It is impossible to see the back of the trailer, so having it out further will be nice.

The way the deck was before I had the fenders level with the trailer deck, now that I have gone out over the wheels I will not be using fenders, and have lost 1.5" of tire space. I have zero idea on how much flex the tries have.. So here's to hoping they don't rub!

I have got the sides on also, but it was too dark for a photo.. More to come tomorrow!

We put torsion axles on a gooseneck and cut out enough to allow for 3" of uptravel. They never rubbed - not sure if that helps or not.

Very cool set-up btw

An extra inch and a half on each side will make that big of a difference when backing up?

Only because it made the difference from not seeing it to seeing it. The camper has previously blocked the view of the deck for the most part. Now I can see the rails real well.

Got some more done today. All rails are on. I angled the front rail back a little to match the camper.. And to help limit wind resistance.
New decking was not in the budget this time around. The boards are completely supported throughout the middle of trailer, so they don't have to be secured at the ends. The old deck is 3" thinner, so there will be a 2x2 run down the side to fill the space.
