lol, I told you that the stretch is ok (even though the word is derived from "pontif", it is commonly used outside of religious contexts these days), it was the way you used it that sounded so awful.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe saying "pontificate what you mean" isn't as redundant as I find it. I could be the idiot. Lets open it up to the gallery....

Probably me, not sure that pontifcate is a verb, but I used it like it was....

It is absolutely grammatically incorrect to use that wording. Frankly, I'm surprised our nattily-dressed French colleague (SRN) hasn't jumped all over this.

Pontificate IS a verb, you maroon!!! You even quoted the dictionary entry! Spoon-feeding the wolves indeed.

The UTA buses do 70 mph in that lane. I figure that is a fair pace. The law says: Yield to faster traffic
That applies for ALL lanes, so don't camp out in the truck lane at 60 mph either. Yielding to faster traffic is essential for good traffic movement and spacing. If everyone would do this it would do wonders for heavy traffic.

I might be going out on a limb here but if everyone went by this rule it might cut down on a little road rage. But that is just me thinking out load.

I'm sure others have seen the unmarked Toyota Camrys... Sometimes hard to pick them out..

Whaaa? They have Camrys? I've never seen one. I always thought all government vehicles were one of the big three - Ford, Chevy, or Dodge - simply because they're american-made.

Either way, it drives me insane to watch people go back and forth across the solid line. It defeats a large purpose of the HOV lane. It's not just another lane to use to pass people! I think if they used YELLOW paint instead of white, people might actually understand that you're not supposed to cross into/out of the lane except at the designated areas. I've heard of people complaining that once they get in the HOV lane, they don't know when the next exit is going to be so they cross the lines whenever they need to get off the freeway. So memorize the HOV exits! When I lived in SoCal, I had every exit in the carpool lane memorized so I knew exactly when I needed to exit it to make the freeway exit I need to. It's really not that hard people!

With toyota involvement in Nummi, as well as GM's...(to name one for instance) the lines between domestic and imported are blurred.
Then when you take into consideration that a large percentile of Japanese cars are built here, from the ground up (always wondered if that was going to kill their reliability?), and that a large percentile of our vehicles are built in Mexico (Ford/Dodge) , and that we actually build German cars here for Export to germany, that the germans don't build on their home turf (Mercedes M-Class) .... what is domestic, and what is not?

THAAAAAAAAANK YOUUUUUUU!!

I have been saying this for years and nobody seems to get it so I just punch them in the throat.

That's how I release my rage.

oooohhhhh. Burnnnn!

I already sold my tow rig. Kept the ego though.

lol. do you really want to play?

edit for your edit: flying through traffic at 65-70 mph? I see what you drive so I understand why 65 would be 'flying' through traffic relative to your top speed, but the rest of the world that can afford a vehicle capable of doing the speed limit probably won't see anyone 'flying' past them going the speed limit.

If you're not in a hurry, and 45 mph is ok for you, then take the bus. Don't punish other people because you can't afford to drive the speed limit. The bus certainly won't do you any harm. You could now afford a couple night classes, and spend that time reading some material aimed at furthering your position in life. One day you might actually afford a vehicle capable of driving at the same speed as traffic....on the freeway! OMG, just think of it!

I know it's a stretch ;)

how's that for an arrogant response? Straight from the ego, to you, with love. xoxo.

I guess everyone should watch out for a Silver Jetta "camped out" in the HOV lane going 68-70ish.

I figure I pay $50.00 a month for the privilege to drive over there and as long as I'm going 65+ I'm staying there till I get to my exit (that I memorized the location of).

I'm NOT going to move over for faster traffic. It's labeled as the HOV lane, if you want to go faster than the traffic in that lane then get out at the next entry/exit point and go around. I really don't give a crap if it ticks ya off or not I'm the one filling my tank and I'm not going to go 75 and use more fuel than I need to to get from point A to point B just to make someone else happy. If I could afford to run faster I would but it comes down to economics.

If I was in the fast lane going 65 I would move over for faster traffic but not in the HOV lane..

There ya have it..

68-70 isn't so bad. I think the topic starter was going much slower than that.

But, if there isn't much traffic (no need to be in the HOV lane), would you still cruise in it even if the other users were trying to go faster? Seems like you could still save your $1.07 per weekly fillup from the right lane without bothering the flow of the renegade resource hogs.

This is true, I typically don't get in the way of traffic. There is on occasion the renegade road hog as you put it that just have to be in front regardless of what speed we are traveling but hey..

In response to the second part of your question. I haven't had the privilege of traveling when there wasn't anyone on the road. Unfortunately I work in NSL and live in Payson and have the typical hrs the rest of the free world does, sorta anyway. 7:30-4:30. However to answer maybe as I mentioned I pay to drive there so when I hit the opening of that lane in Orem I get over there and stay there till the 215 exit. I actually figure I do better for traffic over there anyway, I get in one lane and I'm there for damn near 60 miles no lane changes making others change their speed to accommodate my lane changes during that 60 miles.
I really don't want to tick anyone off I just try to make as few lane changes and speed changes as possible during my trip.

Cody should buy a tow rig so he can take his ego with him where ever he goes. And what a better person to have as an avatar then Jonny Knoxville. A guy who gets drunk and sticks things in his ass, or hey his friends ass.

And the HOV lane is not a passing lane the lane refered to as " the fast lane" is, the passing lane. The minimum speed limit is 45. So fj55 wasnt in the wrong. I am more afraid of people flying through traffic doing 65-70 then coming up on a slightly slower driver.

Give up, You have no point. True the HOV is not a fast lane however it does see faster moving traffic. The passing lane is never okay to go 45 in unless you want to be harrassed. 65-70 is by no means flying by anyone, traffic usually goes 75-80 no a days. Bottom line if you aren't going with the flow of traffic get the hell out of the way you are far more likely of causing an accident from people trying to slow down or go around you than someone flying down doing 100+.

zukgod. If thats when you are driving then you're probably in the right. I suppose you wouldn't pay for the HOV permit if traffic wasn't an issue during your commute.

I drove it for 2 years without the permit and once I bought it I figured it's saving me at least 5 hrs a week if not more. Fridays are a nightmare..
