So I went and weighed everything tonight.
I am absolutly horrible with math so let me know if I am figuring this out wrong.
First weigh... Entire load, Truck, Scout, tent trailer, trailer
front axle of truck 4020
rear axle of truck 5320
trailer axles 11680
Total gross weight 21020
Second weigh.....Truck only
front axle 4520
rear axle 3480
Total gross weight 8000
SOOO........
take 8000 from 21020 gives you 13020 which is what the trailer weighs without the truck. So 10% of that weight will be 1302 lbs. So thats what I need for tongue weight at least.
The drive axle on the truck had 3480 lbs without the trailer and 5320 with the trailer which is a difference of 1840 lbs.
So my brain tells me when the trailer is loaded on the truck it has 1840 lbs of tongue weight which is well over my 10% number so I should be good right?
I decided to hop on the freeway on the way home. It pulled fine at 65 mph. No sway! Any faster than that and my EGT were to hot so it looks like 65 it will be which is fine by me. A couple of big bumps I could see the trailer bobble a little but I couldnt feel it in the truck.
Oh and BTW....I installed a set of air bags and have 45lbs in them. The truck is squatted about 1 inch or so. I can put more air in if needs be but I think its good.
Let me know if Im way off base figuring those numbers. Like I said Im horrible at math. I forgot to snap a pic before the sun went down so this is all you get :greg:
