Interesting cage design

Did he cut a hole in his roof to put the tubing through?

Yea, um if that's the case I wouldn't want it.

that bar through the roof is at least doubling the strength of that cage tho. Worth it in my opinion. A clean cut with a hole saw and a tube of silicon and your good to go

It's a little overdone at the top IMHO, but other than that I like it. I don't think there's really enough headroom in a Cherokee for a fully internal cage. Doing a halo and putting your pillars through the roof makes sense to me. Mine is basically the same design, other than I didn't take the time to make it hug the roof as well as his. I'm going to weld the tube directly to the roof so the holes should be sealed, then I'll go over it with some caulk to make sure. It's a strong design that allows for enough headroom so you don't crack your head open. It's way better than a fully external cage.

I like it. And it's surprising how much a cage in a cherokee changes the vehicle and the way it handles. Cages tighten those unibodies up very nicely and make them feel like a real rig. The extra head-room is a plus. I'd put one diagnal bar behind the rear seats if possible. The roof area seems a little heavy and over-kill but it looks good too.

I like it alot he put a lot of work into it. I would do it in a heartbeat even with holes in the roof. I would run something behing the driver and pasenger seat for added strength and maybe a place for 5 point harneses

Hard to tell but it looks like it has plates on top and is bolted through.I really don't like exo's and it does need some interior crossbraces.

I've been wanting to cage my ZJ for a while now... I had a cage in it that sucked, and got removed, and this type of design would solve most of the problems that made my old one suck. I'm just thinking, for a full bodied rig that will see mild to moderate use, but needs to retain family comfort and room on the interior, this seems like a good idea. I like the idea of a diagonal bar behind the rear seats. I'm hesitant to put anything behind the drivers seat for fear of losing utility in the cab, and putting something there for my kids to smack their heads on. I've got some different ideas on the C pillar, possibly involving bracing and tube work from the rear bumper to my rock sliders inside the rear wheel well, and the C pillar running thru the wheelwell.

We shall see what I can come up with when I have some time to really measure out and figure out dimensions.

I won't go nearly as heavy or elaborate on the roof tho.

that is the ugliest thing i have ever seen in my hole life
it looks like its waring a hair net.
and those down tube's look extremely close to his windshield. i really doubt he's going to be able to replace it after it gets pelted with stick's and rocks from the villagers

I love the idea, and leaks arn't too much of a problem just use some silicone and no more leeks

my only question is what the hell did he do with the pipe after going down the side of the windshield
