I kind of want to make fun of a guy I’ve been talking to but am also concerned about him as well.
I’m looking for a guy to change the vin number in my GM ECM to match the Jeep VIN to pass the VIN check during emissions testing. My ECM was tuned with HPTuners and it won’t do VIN changes. EFILive is supposed to do it though and not charge credits to do it so I’ve been looking for a guy with it.
I found one local on craigslist and emailed him simply asking him to do a VIN change. He replied that there is no reason to change a VIN in the ECM and that it is meaningless.
I emailed him back explaining why I want it done and my understanding about not needing credits to do it. He replied that he has no idea what I mean about credits, but he’ll change the VIN for $200. I’m not getting warm fuzzies about his tuning knowledge.
