So I just finished up a 4 inch Tera LCG on my 2006 TJ. I dropped it of at the alignment shop. I gave them pretty specific instructions. Set front caster/pinion angles. Center both axles side to side. Push the rear axle back center in the wheel well and set pinion angle. So a week ago I pick it up. Both axles are still not centered under the Jeep the back axle is still way to far forward. I do a quick wheel base measurement and the jeep has about a 3/4 inch difference in wheel base. The jeep drives down the road just fine.
I call them back explain the concerns I still have and they tell me to bring it back in. So Thursday morning I drop it back off at this point I tell them again center the axles side to side. Also center the rear axle in the wheel well. So today I go get it. The guy who is did the alignment takes me outside to the Jeep. He goes over a few things and I specifically ask him if the centered both axles under the Jeep. Which he responds "yes" I am by myself so I just load it on the trailer and off I go.
Tonight on my way home looking in my mirrors I can see that the rear axle is still not centered under the Jeep. It is that far off that I can see the difference in how much tire is sticking past the fender flare. When I got home I confirmed with a tape measure and a level that the axle has not been moved side to side.
So in my mind I think that before the alignment can really begin the axles need to be centered side to side under the Jeep. The wheel base needs to be the same. If both of those were done the axles should be square under the Jeep. I am not a alignment guy so I need someone to clarify this for me?
I need to know if I am missing something? Am I just being OCD and need to simmer down? The shop that is doing it has always been very good to me. I enjoy working with them and will continue to support them.
