Looking to improve the ride on my Scrambler. Currently has spring over front and rear. Front is not to bad rear needs Some improvement. Looking at going to longer leaf springs either over or under. For better lateral support looking to go outside frame. Does not have traction bar. Can haul 5 people in back which greatly increases weight. Axles are TJ width. 20150407_165445.jpgAny suggestions.20150409_084816.jpg

There's no hope. You should just get rid of that thing for dirt cheap (to me) and start over. :) I've always enjoyed a clean scrambler.

I improved my Scramblers ride by ditching the leaf springs and going coils and long arms. I also moved the shocks to outside of the frame in the rear which has helped stability. I also improved the front sway bar and added one to the rear. My axles are also TJ width, narrowed front Chevy D44, Comanche rear 44. Much better behaved on the road and trail.

Love, love love Scramblers. X2 what DaveB said. You won't have to run a traction bar and the rid will be infinitely better.

You would even like whats in store for it better Caleb. I will let Mark give the details on that. If you would come riding with us you will meet Mark and then you could try to talk him out of it in person. Doubt it though, he has a really clean CJ5 that I would like to have.

Is it possible to drop by and look at your Scrambler?

A lot has happened with this Scrambler since Mark posted this. The suspension has been totally changed by Ben Hanks and it is in the process of getting an LS3 in it. There are some issues with getting the accessory pulleys in place. Normally, the LS3 goes in a vehicle that is tight and low. With the CJ the front diff is on the opposite side as is the transfer case. He can push everything up high but then that looks goofy. He is looking for a pulley system that puts the alternator down low and tight on the lower passenger side. Lower driver side comes in contact with the steering shaft. Anyone ever seen a setup like this? The 6.0 and or truck brackets will not work on the LS3 apparently. Can some one here fab something?

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Down low to the passenger side was usually reserved for the A/C compressor. It may be that your only choice is a frontrunner type system. They can put the Alt on one side and the PS on the other, just in front and no higher than both heads. If he is running A/C, he'll need to do a frontrunner that put the A/C on the pass side top, then run the alt and PS on the driver side. The PS is down low and should clear the steering shaft fine. Got pictures of how it is now?

Mark got it figured out with a company out of CA

They are putting the alternator on the drivers side down low and up tight against the motor and then putting the power steering pump drivers side in front of the head and then the AC compressor high on the passenger side. This will allow him to keep the corvette engine cover. He needed two new brackets which were about $100 so it all works out.

Here red is a pic

That's sweet. On a side note what Ben Hanks up to these days? I have not heard his name for a while since he closed up shop.
