That's a good price for a harness. What does it entail?
Whatever you want... So thinned out and made to stand alone.
He's a GM tech, so he's got all of the diagrams and etc. at his disposal to make it correct.... There is a couple shops in town that buy brand new, salvaged parts and build complete rigs to sell/use. They take them to this guy to make it all work. Most of the time it's just programming, but other times he has to fix wiring issues.
Or like recently, had to fix a Y pipe with a sawzall hole at the flange - guy brought him a truck that wouldn't run right, but didn't know why. No big deal right? But when you think everything is brand new (but all salvaged parts), and it runs like royal dog crap, there is a lot of things that it could be. Nothing on this truck had more than 500 miles on it. 09 Denali that will be sold for $17k. The only downside is it will have a salvage title. Everything still has the original OEM paint, with no repairs.
A local dyno shop installed a Magna Charger on an 02? Silverado (slammed, Lambo doors, 24" wheels, etc..etc..) and they thought they killed it. Couldn't figure it out so they brought it to him on a trailer. He did some basic trouble shooting, but didn't see anything after about an hour working on it. Wife was calling him, so we disbanded. The next day at work he has an epiphiney, calls the shop up and says "I know whats wrong and I'll call after it's fixed". When back home and after 10 minutes had it fixed. No ground from the battery to the chassis. There were grounds on the battery, but some weren't hooked up and some were going places they weren't supposed to. Then the guy had moved the hood light to the fire wall and removed the ground strap there.
Another time I tuned a buggy for a guy, but he couldn't get the peddle to work (DBW). So he drug the buggy down from BC (its a 100 miles trip here
) for me to check out. I don't do wiring, but with my scanner I could see the peddle working and there were no codes. After about 30 minutes he figured out the shop that did the wiring harness had two wires in the harness reveresed (not saying the name, but it's mentioned here before - and NOT Speartech!
).
The dood is good... Not that it's rocket science, but you gotta have a method, know how it works and some common sense.
