As of today there is a lot of road damage, snow pack, and major runoff that will continue to cause damage and prevent openings for at least another 3-5 weeks. And UDOT isn't opening the upper loop until late June.

Agreed. The challenge is going to be keeping people off the trails until they are officially open and ready for use. I know most of the trails that are accessed from the upper loop are also easily accessible from the Tibble Fork parking lot.

FS told me last Friday that there was some 80"+ at the summit of the Alpine Loop! Crazy stuff.

The question isn't so much "when will it all melt?" as much as "what will it wash out when it does melt?" We may be in for a very short summer recreation season in the mountains this year.

I went up to tibble fork for a picnic and they showed me a picture of a HUGE boulder that was blocking the Mineral Basin trail. Hard to say if they will leave it there or remove it. It was more than half the size of a wrangler.
