One last thanks to Seth @ Rocklogic4x4 for squeezing me in soon enough to tie in the rear of my cage. It held up great.

I had a great time with everybody! Good to meet and see many of you again. Sorry we bailed Sunday after the BFE trip, looks like we missed some good action on H.R.

I only snapped a few pics, but I'll post them up when I find my camera.

We were trailering our rigs on monday morning in to run cliffhanger and when we pulled over to unload them a ranger drove by stopped checked our registration and ticketed everyone of us. Worst part is our jeeps were still on the trailer. We asked him what was up we trailored them to avoid this and he told us it didnt matter if we were driving them or transporting on a trailer they had to be liscensed . On the ticket he wrote expired reg. and thats it. Not while being trailored or anything just expired , If its going to be that we get tickets even when we are trying to do it like the police told us to I will have to think a while before I go back and spend my money in moab.

Sorry, but thats the law everywhere in Utah and has been for some time. It HAS to have registration, regardless of on the trail, road, or trailer.

EDIT: Correct me if I am wrong, but you can't even load a motorcycle or quad in the back of the truck without registration.

Great trip, great wheeling, great friends, man we had a blast. Sorry we didn't run into town and fix the iddy biddy little baby tiny eeny weeny 297 u-joint, but we had already committed to being home early. Looks like we missed a good time on HR. Sorry about the rig Goat, but from all the talk it was almost predestined. Glad you're okay and got out. Jenn kicks butt in the LJ, what's so cool is she listens, unlike me when I drove off the soft shoulder early on in Pritchett.

Meat is a great co pilot made the wheeling a lot of fun. He also kept me awake driving to Moab after 2 hours of sleep. Again, sorry to bail early but glad you found another seat.

Okay, so many things happened on this trip that made it memorable, the Monty Python Killer Wabbit, the overheating, the great late night bbq, but you had to be at White Knuckle when Chad (Timp) was climbing it, don't blame me Chad, Meat already requested the story. We lined him up and told him he had to turn a little right when the front tires came over the top. You could tell by the whites of his knuckles and eyes he was a bit stoked to be going up it. He gave it the gas, hands squeezing the wheel, teeth bared and gritted and was right on line. I yelled "turn right" he never changed the expression on his face or the position of the wheel, just gritted teeth and nodded his head, like he was trying to turn right, but couldn't quite do it.:rofl::rofl:. You had to be there, it was priceless. He made it easily on the next try.

Thanks again to everyone for a great trip. I'll be replacing the front 44 shafts with alloys and CTMs. If they break in Montrose (I think October is a must do) I'll have all winter to get a 60 in there.

Yep, it's law. You need to be licensed for transportation and to drive on any kind of public road / trail. It only costs about ~$30 /yr to license an off-road vehicle. :) You may be able to get registered and have the ticket dropped.

Correct, any OHV needs to be licensed to even haul it.

Also, this is a bit off the subject, but I have heard and read a number of posts about registering trucks, buggys, etc. as OHV, and that once a vehicle has been registered OHV it can never be changed back to street legal. But just in case anyone is interested, I just changed my Toyota back from OHV to street legal last week before heading down to Moab for Labor Day weekend. So it can be done, and it was really pretty painless. If anyone is trying to re-register your rig from OHV to street, I can give you details and names of who I talked to to get it done.

Great trip report. We also ran Minor Threat and Green Day on Sat. but we got there awhile after Herzog and the rest of you guys.
