Wow, I got home today in about 18-20 min. I'd assume at least 5-7 of that was on surface streets in SLC.

I hope that trend continues.

I do a lot of driving for work, and come up north on I-15 at varying times during the day depending on what I am doing.

I dreaded coming home anywhere between noon and 6 north on i15 anywhere from 600 north to 89 interchange.

I drove home today from NSLat about 5, out by redwood road where I do a lot of work for woodside homes. So i got to use that new on ramp that I have been eyeballing for about a year :)

I LOVED IT, no traffic, and when I came up to where it parrells i15, traffic was gone... I am in love..... but at a cost more than 50 million a mile... did they bury gold bricks?

WOW I drove from slc to clearfield 2 times today and never drove under 60 it was great. It is wierd to be on a road where every one is still driving the speed limit.

legacy 1 time and I-15 the other

I give it a week before the average speed is 60-65

The natural speed limit for the new parkway is much higher than 55mph. Take away truck traffic and given the very wide field of view, 65mph is as easy as a sign change.

This road is exactly the same as the Merritt Parkway from Connecticut to New York, less the trees and hilly terrain. That road is a dragstrip. 80-90mph is average and there isn't a place for the cops to hide.

I give it two weeks before people are comfortable enough and have seen the hiding spots before the speeds increase.

I did tilt my head when passing the sign that gives you the time to Farmington for both Legacy and I-15 and I-15 was two minutes faster..... Speed limit was the difference. I'll take it every time to avoid the truckers!!

I rode on Legacy Parkway tonight from Farmington to 500 So. & LOVE IT. Everyone was set at 55 MPH but there was a PO in front of us. It was nice to see so many people riding bikes and running on the path on the side. It makes me want to take the kids out to ride our bikes on it. The best part was hearing the traffic report at 5pm and hearing I-15 NB is at freeway speeds all the way to the construction in Farmington. That is amazing:D

I saw a story on the news yesterday about the 55mph limit on the parkway. Part of the agreement with the tree huggers to get it built was to have the lower speed limit. They said if people were going 65 it would be louder and would disturb the migrating birds. Is 55 that much quieter than 65

It also has super special 'quite pavement'!
I've heard from some credible sources that several street racing groups have scoped it out and think it is going to be a hot bed for that sort of stuff. They are just waiting for the cops to lean out before letting loose.

It really is a nice bike path. We've been using it all summer. Kinda sucks that it got all popular and crowded all the sudden this week though. Had it pretty much all to myself until now.

I don't know about cars with street tires, but with the 25,000 miles on 'em MT/R's on my Jeep, there is a LOT of difference between 55 and 65. They don't seem too loud at 55, but once you get over 60 it seems like they just about double in loudness every couple of MPH.

My house is real close to the new road, and I'm GLAD they are keeping it at 55. As it is now, there isn't much noticeable noise. But I'm afraid at higher speeds, there would be, and I wouldn't be liking it.
