So some of you know that I am a Scout guy and I've had one for about a year trying to get ready to build an all around crawler/trailrig.
About a month ago, some friends gave me a 197? Chevy pickup with a 350, and a bunch of other parts that I needed for the scout.
But this truck had a familiar look and feel to it. It reminded me of someone else's pos chev with a bunch of poo pipe around it, so I decided that I am going to leave the truck in one piece and call it "Meat Jr."

I know that naming anything after Meat is more than likely a death wish, but if you''ve seen this truck, its an upgrade.

You'll have to bear with me on this thread, I'm a redneck that hates computers so hopefully I can get the pics to work.

As it sits when I got it:
rebuilt 350
built TH350
NP203
14 Bolt rear welded w/4.10's
completely gutted, there is absolutely nothing on this truck that is not required to make it move.

Upcoming improvements:
D44 w/4.10's in the front,
95 ZJ seats (thanks Nick)
New fuel cell/tool box (thanks Richard)
Custom made flat bed (thanks Dad)
New custom dash (thanks Bench)
38.5x14.50r16.5 Swamper SX's (thanks Goliath)
16.5x13 Weld Forged wheels (thanks Matt)
a bunch of new lights, turn signals, brake lights,

My goal is to be able to have it ready for a test run to the snakes on 3/21 for our Dirt Hedz trail ride, (anyone is welcome, meeting at the turnoff at 10:00) and then have it fully ready to roll for EJS.

Add authentic details like: mismatched high-steer... and it is forbidden to run sliders.
I like the sincerity. ;)

yes, really needs some pooh pipe, but that will probably wait till after ejs, focusing on making it go, then registration. Then we'll add the meatesque traits.

Thanks Cheston, I'm pretty excited to be able to wheel something other than my monster wj.

Just a quick update,

Saturday, me and my dad got the flat bed almost finished, just need to add tabs for my fuel cell mounts and paint it.

Yesterday, picked up the new front D44, thanks Brad. Also picked up the wheels, thanks Heinz.

Today, got the tires mounted and on the truck, picked up the parts to finish the exhaust, got most of my lights and switches, and got some of my new guages.

Tomorrow, I will be mounting the flat bed to the truck, installing the exhaust, building the new dash, and hopefully installing the new seats.

This saturday our club is holding a shop day at one of our sponsors and we should be redoing all the electrical, installing the lights, and swapping the front axle so I can have 4 wheel drive, woo hoo.

Cheston, and anyone that wants, you should come out to the snakes with us on march 21st, I'm hoping to have the truck there for a pre EJS test run.
I don't have a front locker for it yet, but I'm thinking if I don't break anything on RattleSnake, I might actually try constrictor, but every time I have tried to run constrictor, my rig breaks before we start. I think I have a curse on me.

Here's a couple pic's with the new tires,

Sorry I didn't post sooner Bear. I've been away from the computer for a few days.
The rig is really coming along. Its cool to see you driving a Chevy. Good luck. Wish we were closer to be able to help out. Oh wait... no I don't. Moab is awesome. :p

Hey Mr Bro-in-law, glad to see you back on here, hope you are well, but I was just wondering, DO YOU REMEMBER THAT LAST TIME I TOLD YOU THAT YOU ARE A JERK?

Can't wait to get down there and check out the new house. Tell my sister hi.

Oh, by the way, the only reason I am driving a chevy, is its the only thing someone was trying to throw away that I could get for free.

Wish I could make it to the Snakes with you. Im going to be VERY hard pressed to get the Scout back together for EJS.

Making good progress but there is still a lot to do.

Truck looks sick!

Well I didn't quite get as much finished as I wanted to get done today. Spent more time chasing parts than I thought, but we did get the bed mounted, and the dash fitted and bent. Also finally got the new fan put on the motor and painted the frame black to hide the rust.

Here are a few pics of the flat bed and dash, dash is not bolted in or done yet, also finished painting the interior, it was half gray and half orange.

Well thanks to our Dirt Hedz sponsor, Intermountain Auto and Repair in Lindon, we had a club shop day today. I was able to get the gears figured out in my front axle, replace the bad brake caliper, and install the new dash.
I am having a problem with the drivers side hub, it has Warn Premium hubs, It won't engage, but when I pulled it apart everything looked fine, except the spring, you could easily push the lock ring into place and it would lock the hub, so I ran down to six states and Adam was kind enough to give me a new cap with spring, got back to the shop, put it on, and same problem. You spin the tire, and it acts like it wants to engage, but it won't. Any idea's. If not I'm just going to splurge and buy the new hubs.

Anyways, Got the exhaust installed last night, hand me down from a 78 Trans Am, surprisingly it was bent in all the right places, but it was kind of funny to see all the rats and bird nest blown out of the glass packs.

This week, working on electrical, lights, and safety and emissions.

Some other notes from our club shop day, If you see my dad driving his bronco down the road, be sure to point and laugh, we put new coils on front and it went from sagging 2" to sitting about 4" to high.

A few parts I'm looking for:
seat belts, a 38" spare, chevy doors,
