The truck is looking good and I'm diggin the dash. Great project, especially for the time frame you've had.

Thanks Bart, ya, the dash is my pride and joy right now. Maybe after EJS I can start making the rest of the truck cool too.

Mike T, yes, I will take the 208, does it have both flanges on it?

You can get one of the fixed Dodge cases and make the Chev fixed.....

241 is stronger, 208 will do you fine until you get your doubler :)

That's pretty much what I wanted to know about it. :D Well that and "Can you make me one and how much beer is it"

If you've got the 208 and are going to a Doubler the 241 isn't really worth the trouble.. and, you can SYE the 208 w/Dodge/Jeep parts, can't do that w/a 241... :( Guts and oiling were beefed up in the 241 but I doubt your motor will notice. :D Low range is 2.72:1.

What would you like to know about the dash? I got a free 10'x4' sheet of 16guage from my buddies lazer shop. Made some measurements, got out the ol' sheet metal trimmer, and cut it out. Grandad has an antique sheet metal bender from when he built horse trailers, folded up the dash quick and easy. Had to trim a little to match the radius at the bottom of the windshield. Put some end caps on it to mount it with. Drilled out a few holes for my pretty new Equus guages, and swithes. The old dash was completely gone, along with all the guages, switches, everything was gutted.

Now, about that 241? As you know, I've never been a chevy guy, so which is going to be better? the 208 or the 241? Pro's vs Con's? Driveline mods? low range ratio?

And Meat and Mike thurston are giving me a couple 208's, so i think thats the next project after EJS.

Tacoma, let me see how much sheet metal I have after I finish a couple little projects. It was really not that hard to build the dash, the hardest part is making it fit really nice against the curve of the windshield and firewall. We'll chat after EJS. Are you going down this year?

I got a VIN, I got a VIN, I got a VIN hey hey hey hey!!!!!

Yep, finally, I went down to the DMV yesterday with some new pics of the truck that make it look a little more street legal and they finally gave me my new Restoration VIN so I can register it as street legal instead of OHV!!!!!!!!!:D

Now, I have to add some stupid CAT's to get the Safety&I/M.
Atleast I will be able to get the temp tags in time for EJS.

On another cool note, I talked to a guy today that helped the PO build the motor, can you say "383 Stroker" saweet,
Also, Nick and Scott, "SchaferNsons" came to the shop today and help me with a lot of the little projects. Got all the rock light installed and wired, oil guage working, reverse light working, hole cut in dash for stereo, wipers wired and working.

Still need to install the new fuel tank, build a battery box, install the speakers and subs, and we should be ready to rock in EJS.

ya, for now, I am just going to build a frame out of angle, then bolt that to the firewall, then run to support rods down below that, then bolt a tray that I bought at Napa to that frame, after moab when I have more time, I am going to use some of the sheet metal I have to build a weather tight box.

What year did they classify it as? 79? I never had cats on my 78 and my 76 doesn't have them either.
