Not sure that i'll ever go on a real "expedition" but it's seems to now semi define what I enjoy doing--roadtrips, camping and wheeling with a 4x4 of some sort.
These 2 are my keepers, the JK will get a little AEV love after i pay it off this year.

Here's my truck as of now. 1991 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ80

I haven't gone on any long-range expeditions yet, but I hope to in the future. I still have to do a few things- install a power inverter, get some better tires that actually belong to me, and a rear locker. The locker WILL happen soon, I'm just waiting on my tax return... -_-

It's equipped with:

  • cobbled-together OME/Ironman lift totaling 3-3.5"
  • BFG AT's 33x12.50R15 (not pictured)
  • Rear Aussie locker
  • self-maintaining OBA system
  • Cobra WXST-II CB in-dash
  • Garmin nuvi 205 (road), Garmin GPS V (topo)
  • a SWEET sound system
  • Lots of lights...
    • 4 100W KC's on the roofrack
    • 2 130W Hellas on the bumper
    • 2 foglights w/dichloric(sp?) yellow 55W bulbs (actually effective)
    • 2 aux backup lights, one 100W and the other 35W
    • 2 rear roof lights, 100W each
    • HIR 55W low beams, regular 65W high beams
    • for a grand total of 1,345 watts of light
  • Dual batteries to power it all

Where was this picture taken at, Lake Powell? If so, what part?

I leave mine on both rigs year round. The covers get a little beating but they are holding up fine.

My wife and I can remove mine without too much stress. It also has 4 quick release pins (that I upgraded to a beefier 5/16'' shank) that hold it in place that make removal just that much easier.

Sadly the time that I don't use it outweighs the time that I do so it sits in the shop when not in use :(

This is our rig. A bit bigger than most of the ones around here, and you probably won't find us on rock-crawling trails where rollover risks are high, but it has turned out to be more capable than I would have thought when we first got it. Plus we have all the comforts of home whereever we end up...

Ford E350 Diesel ('05, 6.0L)
Sportsmobile solid axle conversion up front
Atlas II TC (3:1)
Pro-Rock 60 Front, Dana 60 Rear 4.10
37" tires
55gal tank
Pop-top
Diesel furnace, coolant/water heater, cook-top
16gal fresh water
300 watts of solar on top, 400ah house batteries down below

Lived in it for 2 years with my wife. We still take trips out for a week or two every month or so. Currently starting in on a bunch of re-work to address reliability issues of the 6.0 diesel, cabinetry repair, etc.

More details at our website and some travel logs.

Love the Sportsmobile Erik!! What's even more impressive is that you use it like it was built to be used, that first pic says a lot. Love the XR400(?) on the back as well. ;)

I'd love to hear more about your trips and adventures, especially living in it for 2 yrs. I'll be browsing your website real soon. :D
