lincoln or hobart

Lincoln or Miller over Hobart any day. The reason is because they are made right here in the USA. I had to purchase some welding wire the other day and it was Hobart .035 wire that was made in China. I thought that Hobart was made here in the US but after buying the wire I am no longer sure. The other reason is because Miller and Lincoln are easier to find parts and consumables for, at least in this area. Easy to use, easy to find, easy to replace consumables, and generally a larger user base but, I am sure either will work well.

Pretty sure Miller = Hobart but Hobart has slightly lesser quality moving parts.

I've been impressed with Lincoln welders. They work well anytime I've used them. I own a Hobart and it's served me well over the years.

I have a Hobart 140 and it says "Miller" all over it even the stinger has a Miller logo on it. from what I understand they are the same company although the Millers are more heavy duty. I like mine and it has served me well over the years. For it's size it performs well but I wished I would have bought bigger and will eventually upgrade, if you can afford bigger go bigger or at least 220V.

I own bolth, I have a 110 volt linclon & a hobart 175 Ive loved bolth of them!
obviously the bigger hobart is a much more versatile welder & does everything that I want.
& the bigger hobarts do use miller parts. I bought a new gun for mine last year, & its a miller gun.

UNSTUCK

But stuck more often.
Keep your eyes out for a deal. They pop up now and then. I found an old Hobart Beta 250 for $275. I welds nicer then the brand new Lincoln I had been using at work. I called around before I purchased it to make sure there was local support for it. No problems there. Airgas had everything to get me running once I got it home.

Just like your rig, get the best parts you can afford.

Hobart and Miller are basically the same machine, even the internals (boards, fan, feeders). Parts are readily available, locally. In my opinion, a far superior machine than Lincoln.

Neither.

Save some more coin and buy a 220 machine.

Have to agree here. Having used both lincoln140+ and hobart180, there is no comparison between a 110 & 220 machine. Now that I've used them, I want to ditch my 180 get a good 220+ amp machine.

My hobart had all miller internals when I bought it, and I get my parts from airgas. Miller again. Either way, Lincoln, Hobart, and Miller are all good machines.
