Local source for Painless Wiring Hot Shot?

Guys, we're not talking about the large ( 2 or 4 gauge maybe?) battery cable that runs from the batter to the starter motor. We are talking about a 10ish gauge wire that you will add to the battery that goes to the new relay and then another 10 gauge from the relay to the starter solenoid that is mounted on the starter motor. If you are trying to run cable, it is way, way overkill. You only need wire to handle 30 amps. Not 500.

That's exactly what was going to do, actually. I thought I'd bypass the solenoid entirely and eliminate a point of failure. This relay starts a V8, why shouldn't it be able to handle cranking my little 4banger?

Well, you can, but your engine will never start. The solenoid kicks out the drive gear. Once the drive gear is out it makes a contact that engages the motor to start turning.

That's a REALLY good reason. I thought the solenoid just closed an electrical contact.
