i have my reasons
.....and a new heavy duty lockright center pin for 17 so Goat will leave me alone about it.
...The downside is that my pry bar had a mishap slip with the carrier bearing, so tommorrow I need to have somebody press some new ones...
After a while the pin will start to waller out the holes in the much softer cast iron carrier. As soon as any play develops, it escalates quickly.
I wouldn't waste your time and money on new bearings unless the damage to the bearing is a lot worse than it looks in the pic... As long as the bearing still spins freely, or if you can make it spin freely (bend the cage back) I see no reason not to just run it... That damage certainly doesn't look bad enough to replace it. Plus, once the bearing is installed in the race, the cage doesn't really do much anyways.
All back together now. So far so good. Plus no leaks with my new lube locker gasket from summit machine
Those lube lockers kick butt. That's all I will run now.
