I'm so confused. Are there two different types of 2014 cherokee's? Obviously there is the ugly one, but I thought that "WK2" style was the predecessor to the ugly one.... But it looks like they make both?

There is the WK2 or Grand Cherokee(not sure on new model changes though), and the new Cherokee or Cherokee branded Fiat garbage replacement for the Liberty. Just like they used to do they now have two different "Cherokees" only neither of them really fits the name anymore other than the Grand Cherokee being Jeep's top of the line SUV.

There's also the 2015 Renegade:

In that case, I'd drive a WK2.

hey, at least they have some sturdy tow hooks. If those come with a t-case (doubtful) they could be the modern equivalent to the suzuki sidekick. That'd be cool.

The Trailhawk edition will come with "Active Drive Low"
When in "4-Low" mode the front and rear axles are locked together and power is sent to all four-wheels through a gear reduction in the power transfer unit; providing a crawl ratio of 20:1.

Looks like a great little softroader to me.

drives like a ... boat?
mpg sucks
ground clearance isn't horrible but approach and departure would need some trimming
4 doors
reliable-ish
I am sure the springs could be swapped out for some heavy duty truck springs and you could baja with it
no AWD though... (but hell you could swap in a f150 trans, tcase and front "axle")

Yes, it's the focus you think it is. Do you have more info about it kevin? I'd love to see some pics of the independent suspension.

I know a guy on another forum that seemed to know a lot about it, but he hasn't been around in a while. I'll see if I can ping him.

As far as I know, it's stock from the frame down with the torsion beam IFS and 3link rear.
