Lookin for somebody with a shop press...

I'm looking for somebody that has a big shop press I can come over and use. Something like a 20 ton harbor freight would be perfect.

I need to press some hubs out of some spindles and then back into another set of spindles. Everything's off the truck and ready to be pressed so would only take about an hour or so.

I'm in Provo so closer the better, but would drive up to SLC area to do it no prob.

I have got a press that was made by some feller many years ago. same as the HF press. It's located in midvale behind my shop. It's probably not your BEST option, but it is available if you would like it.

I will be in midvale about 3:00, and could bring it to my shop in South Jordan if I had a hand, and that would give you a much greater tool selection if needed.

Just some options..

Well, we've called it for the day. Gonna give it a go again in the next few days.

Currently stuck trying to remove the hub lock nut on the last hub (but will then need to tighten 2 of them back on after we swap them)...needs a special hub nut socket, which I bought the recommended OTC tool, but it of course seared off the pins while removing the the 4th and last nut. :( We knocked out the remnants of the pins and can replace with new pins, but where to find new pins? We tried some bolts that were just the right size and length but they just bent. Need something super strong cause the damn nuts are torqued to 200ft-lbs. Any ideas welcome. :)

Bummer on the pins. Got your message, I was out with the Canguro team all day wrenching and testing. Back home for a minute and then off again.

I have a press and an MAC impact gun that I use to take harmonic balancers off of BMW engines. It's the only tool I know that will do it.

Did you use a grade 8 or better bolt (or metric 10.9 or better) They shouldn't bend. I have done that lots of times with great success. 200 ft.lbs. really isn't that tight. Is there loc tite on the threads? If so you may have to heat it first. Other then all that, take a chisel to one of the holes and beat it loose with a hammer.

Couldn't find grade 8 at the time so we grabbed grade 5. :-/ I really wanted some solid pins.

Which is what I just picked up from Double D Bolt. 25¢ a piece and dude said it'll be as strong as it'd get with this size pin/bolt.

Wish me luck. Gonna try an impact on it this time see if I can get it to go.

Still gonna need a press in the next couple days so appreciate the offers and hopefully I can hook up with somebody on it soon.

Ok. I ended up needed to pick up some new seals that i thought i had but didnt, but I'm ready to start pressing these suckers out. Is anybody with a press available tomorrow (Friday) afternoon/evening? Or perhaps early Saturday morning?
