Okay ya sure, what about base coat and clear coat or whatever they say you need when you paint.
You're barely scratching the surface there (good English pun, eh?---maybe it's Canadian now with the 'eh'?).........what do you want to know.
If you want the paint job to last and look like OEM or show, I'd not even consider NOT using a base/clear system. They have their advantages and drawbacks.
If you need a quick and decent looking paint job that you won't break down into tears when you roll it over, a mid-priced automotive enamel is probably the way to go. looks fairly good for a few years and didn't cost the house payment.
If you don't care as much about looks.........bedliner, latex, rattle can, or whatever......{I've even seen other things}......each one of those has some advantages and with the exception of the bedliner the cost is pretty insignificant. I personally HATE spraying with a rattle can. I can't do a 'nice' job, but I've seen some pretty decent rattle can jobs.
