I hate to see things like this. Just a guess at a username shows that he maybe have been one of our own.-

Very well said.Lots of morals could be inferred from whats unfolding to be a most tragic accident but the reality is we don't know what happened and its very possible a second rig would have done nothing more but speed up the unsettling news to the families involved. I go four wheeling in a single rig often, just last week we did a few hundred miles in the middle of the West Desert in the middle of the night. However we are prepared to do so. I have a locating device that my wife and others can use to determine our exact location, I have food, shelter, water, tools, weapons, flare gun and a cell phone. Sure we can find a scenario in which I would be SOL without a second rig, I can find equally as many where two rigs can be screwed. There is some intrinsic danger when you leave your house, for some that danger is too much and needs to be mitigated, for others the danger is the reason to leave home. Assess the risk and prepare accordingly, you will never satisfy all variables and attempts to do so will leave you paranoid at best.
....please dont go wheeling alone its not a very smart idea
While this is a very unfortunate incident, I do not agree with your comment above. Having a second, third, or 10 other vehicles most likely wouldn't have prevented this from happening. They went out ill prepared, and paid the ultimate for it.
Sad, yes.
Isn't the Hogs Hollow area still open? I went there all this summer and fall and where I entered there are no posted signs, chains, ropes, barriers, rocks, or anything. We'd always head up to Jacobs Ladder for the view and head back down. There are tons of trails up there that look traveled very often. The only part I can imagine being able to go off is before you get to the Jacobs Ladder trailhead when you're going through the rocks on the left side. Is this the possible area...if anyone has been up there and remembers?
RIP Guys!
There are signs, gates, chains and barriers galore on the Draper side.
