Meat Extraction

So, I got a call from Meat about an hour ago. Seems he totaled his wheeler up Mary Ellen Gulch in AF Canyon. He was about to start hiking down to his dodge at Tibble when we spoke.

Luckily, the wheeler landed five feet from the road, and Meat wasn't injured. He does need to go up and get it with a trailer however. He has a small single-axle trailer, but his truck is out of commission.

Anyone able to meet him at Tibble sometime tomorrow with a 4x4 to take up the trailer? Any high-clearance 4x4 with a standard ball hitch will work.

Hopefully, he'll post up some pics after he gets home.

WHEW!!

I thought this was gonna be another one of those "Brett's thooper" posts.

Of course Meat is alright, he's got divine powers. His ATV does not, however. :(

I'm good, thanks for the concern :greg:

By a twist of fait I forgot to gas up the atv and didn't realize that until I was at Tibble Fork, so I drove my truck up to the bottom of MEG so I would have enough gas to ride where I wanted to.... this made it a 5~6 mile hike instead of a 15~16 mile hike

Of all the stupid things I've done on atv's I finally total one and I'm not even on it

I pulled up about 4ft from the edge of the tailings pile at the top mine messed around for a bit then sat on the atv and glassed around with my spotting scope (R.I.P. :( ). When I got done I wrapped it up in a jacket set it on the rack and started up the atv, then I remembered that my back pack was sitting on a pile of dirt behind me. After getting that squared away I went to step on the atv (I tend to jump on them) and my foot either missed the floorboard or slipped off from it (still not sure) which put me falling towards the edge and edge of the wash out. In my grabbing for support I managed to peg the throttle  :ugh: The 700 obliged the wide open throttle and launched it's self over the edge  :( I managed to let go of it and skid to a stop on either my hands and knees or stomach partially over the edge of the tailings pile (not really sure as I jumped back to my feet too fast).

I got to watch it roll 6~7 times, then it got to where the vegetation starts and it began to cartwheel after 5~6 of those it came to rest. Parts were flying off the entire time, but when it was cartwheeling I saw one part fly as high as the pine trees  One of the hops during the cartwheels put the bike at least 20ft off the ground.

How about a game of Where's Polaris?

Holy crap! Good thing you didn't go down with it. ATV's are much easier to replace than Meat_s.
