Might Be Leaving UT

On Thursday AM I started getting FB messages from old industry friends about an opportunity in MT. On Friday I had a conversation with the GM and he started calling people from my professional past. On Monday I am supposed to talk with the VP about the ugly stuff. If we can come to terms, I need to be in MT by the end of April.

I once was kind of a big deal at JL Audio.

What are your feelings about leaving?

I've been in 49 states and UT is my favorite. It took 10 years of planning and a lot of blood and treasure to carve out a life so far from home. It's not an easy decision.

Montana is a beautiful place with a lot to explore. If I were in your position without any real ties to Utah I would seriously consider it.

Long distance relationships rarely work as planned...

To be clear, the only reason I'd make the move is if it were a pay raise, I've no interest in moving to MT for the sake of moving to MT. I've made some excellent friends here who've made me feel like part of their family. And I believe that the expo scene isn't even close to UT.

Just got off the phone with the VP so Step 2 is over as is the ugly business of money.

The final step is supposed to go down tonight so I am mere hours away from knowing if I have an offer or not.

You have to make the best decision for you and I know you will but I hope you are staying.

Bummer, I know how much you love UT. MT has a ton to offer too. I could see myself retiring there someday. Good luck with your decision. I don't know if MT would be able to handle the sexiness of JL Rockies.

Montana is way more expo than Utah! Pack your snowshoes! I lived in Helena for a couple years, still need to get back and visit.

I accepted their offer moments ago. Their going to fly me out to Spokane for corporate indoctrination for four days. Of course, that's 4 days I can't pack.

I'll be moving to Missoula, MT.

It's about a $21k raise for me which will bring me back to pre-2009 levels but I will work more hours, less expo and I see UT like a tourist.
