Moab heads up

I lived in Utah 5 years. In that time I paid for one speeding ticket and 56 fix it tickets. I've been cussed out, sworn at, and made to feel as if I was endangering everyones life because my jeep had 35's and spring over. My favorite ticket.... not signaling 150ft before the turn. (I also got 4 other non-moving violations that time) There were two semesters of school I had to post phone because I had to pay tickets instead. I finished school in Washington and haven't been pulled over since I moved. Now when I come visit a couple of times a year, the jeep never touches pavement because I can finally afford to tow it. Hmmmm... but I can drive my 'Jeep' on the highway with 38" tires without even getting pulled over.

Sounds to me that the issue is not the Jeep.

Why would anyone pay/get 56 fix-it tickets and not fix something?

I tried mud flaps, fender flares, dropped hieght bumpers...ect.... Then it came time for the headlight hieght. Thats where I drew the line. No matter what, I was getting pulled over. Granted, they changed the law right after I quit driving it. But, all in all I learned my lesson. Don't drive in south salt lake county, and definetly don't drive in utah county.

I drive in Utah County, have for a few years. I have not been pulled over for anything. I don't have mud flaps, my 35's stick out past my flares and I'm sure I'm not legal somewhere else. I think your manner of driving probably is more of the problem.:-\

I've driven in Utah County for ~6 years with my tires too wide (33's), no rear bumper, and no mud flaps. I've been pulled over twice - once by UHP and once by UVSC police. The UHP officer gave me a fix-it ticket for no driver's side mirror (doors off). The UVSC cop gave me a verbal warning for no mirror and no mud flaps. Other than those two times, I've never had a problem. :confused:

I was in Moab at the end of last week during EJS. There was a major increase in law enforcement officers presence from last year, but during the 4 days I was there I only saw 3 rigs pulled over (1 4Runner, 2 Jeeps). However I also saw many tube buggies and and countless clearly illegal rigs (major fender flare issues, no mud flaps, no mirrors, ect...) all over. I think the "everybody is getting pulled over" thing was way over hyped.

On the other hand maybe I didn't spend enough time in town "dragging main" to see all of the ticket-giving, I was out on the trails.:rofl:

I saw about the same thing. I guess I got my panties in a wad for no reason. :rofl:
