nope, I didn't throw one away. Sorry to get you excited. I just threw away about 40 lbs of old t-case parts, but that wasn't in there.

Man, I totally should. I thought I told you, but it must have been one of those things that I never acted on... I think they're still in the garbage if you want to go dumpster-diving tonight. It was little things like 2.28 gears, detent springs, shifters, etc, input shafts, etc.

Dude! At least grab the shifters out for me! I'll be needing those when I make my triple stick here soon, I can make it tonight but I can come out real soon

So I'm out of money and waiting on parts... And money for part I think I'll pull my front axle and rebuild it.

Plus Kurt at cruiser outfitter said he would sponsor the build with an axle rebuild kit! Always get your rebuild kits from cruiser outfitters, kurt only uses the best parts availible in his kits. Cruiser outfitters has always been one of my favorite sponsors! All the late nights at comps showing up with pizza and b.. Soda! Thanks Kurt!

Tacoman99 came through with the hook up, he had a good adapter kicking around that he gave me, the good guys at low range offroad hooked up the coupler and the other parts you see here!

if they weren't so far away i would be down but i dont think i can stand burning that kind of gas every day.
here is my sunday after noon project: transmission shifter rebuild. its super easy, every toyota owner should do it. the parts can be bought from low range for under $20, it gets rid of the annoying slop and makes your tranny feel new

heres what you need
wire brush
brake cleaner
shifter bushings
12mm socket
10mm socket
some shop towels

take your shifter off the tranny by removing the 6 12mm bolt that hold the shifter plate on
here is the dirty old shifter

i like to do a quick cleaning just so i dont have to work with the dirt, then as i take it apart i spend more time cleaning each individual part
take out the 4 10mm bolts that attach the shifter to the plate

you should end up with this mess

pull whats left of the old rubber bushing out

these are our new bushings

pop the new one in
de7915f3.jpg

should end up like this
bd52e3fd.jpg

pop the old plastic bushing off and relpace it with the new one

fbd4d015.jpg

clean the rest of the shifter and stick it back in the plate, its always a good idea to add a little grease to it

bolt it back together

put the shifter boot back on and you are good to go!

bolt it back on your transmission and your old dumpy toyota will have a whoile new feel! even if its still old and dumpy :D (they all are)

Also awesome news! My good friends at low range talked trail gear into a rear disconnect! Trail gear seems really excited about this so we shall see how it works... It has the be better that the "trail tough" willy wanka lever that I had before. I went to king of the hammers this year with the lowrange guys and We had the oppertunity to camp with the trail gear guys, they are super good guys! Way down to earth, always having fun, super cool.
Also while I was at lowrange I got all the needed goodies for hydro assist

I started on the knuckle rebuild. I took the axle apart, cleaned EVERYTHING, every nut and bolt.. that took forever. Then I cut the unwanted brackets off the housing and painted it(notice I left the factory sway bar mounts... Just in case if someday I want to... Hmm Nevermind)

I cleaned and painted all the knuckles and reinstalled the studs

Then I put it all back together
