MTR vs TSL Radial?

I've ran both and would choose the MT/R's in the long run. Surprisingly the TSL's did much better for me on slickrock, but the MT/R's were the best everywhere else. Here is my opinion...

MT/R was best in:

Snow
Less highway noise
High speed (for a 20R pickup ) dirt
Loose Rocky sections
Better sidewall

TSL Radial was better in:

Deep mud
Slickrock
Sex appeal
Available in unique sizes
Typically cost less

Both tires wore very well on my Toyota pickup.

I agree with Rot box mostly, I just purchased the new SS M-16's and have ran them in Moab and in the Deep snow and I have to say I like them a lot better than my MTR's.
and they have good sex appeal as well.

Yeah, as I said, tire wear isn't an issue for me. These sit in the garage unless I am hitting the trail, I have BFG A//T's for daily driving which is about 4k miles a year at most anyway.

I second moabYJ2! my bud runs a set of 37X13.50X18 SSM-16's on his 77 Highboy and he has bout 18,000 on them already and they have barely phased in tread! if they came any bigger I would get a set.

If your tires are not going to see the street then I would suggest the Pitbull Rockers. If you are not comfortable going with a set of tires you are not familar with then I would go with the TSL's over the MTR's any day of the week. IF street performance is not one of your concerns.

The MT/R is pretty much the best tire ever conceived by mankind. I do acknowledge however that they are only for the serious enthusiast.

I have owned my Jeep over 10 years and did 95% of the work myself with a paralyzed left hand, even paid cash for every part on it. Nope, I'm not serious at all....

The maddogs are really great tires, so are the Rockers. I still run SX swampers and love them too. I guess you have to wheel to wear out your tires. lol
