Mudding

I'm relatively new to Utah from down in Florida, we always went mudding back there, are there any mudholes out here? I don't do the whole rock crawling thing.

Not to mention most mud out here is clay and that is the worst thing to go mudding in. I'm from Jersey where the only thing to wheel is mud as well. I would consider changing your mind set on the crawling which in reality most times it's not even crawling . It's driving down a dirt road with a few obstacles tossed in. Plus mudding doesn't get you to the top of a ridge line or mountain with awesome views . Of course going to places like Moab ya it's going to be a good bit of crawling . But going out to the West Desert it's more just driving down old ranch or mining roads in the middle of no where . Maybe up to the Uintas where it would be a dirt road with a few rough spots here and there in the woods .

The other thing is it would help to know what area of Utah you have moved to might help others give you a few choices or maybe a few people to go out with to help so you around and what is available

Head out west on I-80 till you're about 40-50 miles short of Wendover. If it's rained recently, you'll see some shiny flat mud. Drive into it, and listen to your truck rust away right before your eyes/ears as you call for the wrecker to pull you out.

Even if there were any mud holes around they would be reduced to hard dirt, this was a drought year in case you didn't know.

Keep it on the trail. If there is mud on the trail, drive through as fast as necessary to keep momentum. It's a whole different kind of wheeling out here, lots more to explore than just a mudhole.

Mud can be found here and there. There is a triving mud bog racing community. But we do live in a desert. You get more rain in a month then we do in a year. It is a different animal here. Not better just different.

well after a decent rain storm or after a good snow year on the melt side of it that is, down in Fillmore Utah there are some sand pits behind the Maverick on the south end of the town, these are open pits and aren't monitored much really, after the storms there are some amazing holes along the trails at the pits. here are a couple of the different rigs I have taken through there.

Welcome to Utah! I don't think you'll find much help on mudding around here as we've got awesome forest, desert, rocky terrain. There are several of us that try to avoid mud! I think you'll be surprised how much fun avoiding the mud can be around here.

I am from FL too, mud sucks. Rocks are just like mud only it's all dried out and clumpy. "Mudding" is not a great thing for the environment and this is a battle ground state for such topics.

Welcome to the forum. There's no real "mud bogging" if thats what you're after. The only time that happens is when you're solo in the middle of the West desert during a unexpected rainstorm and its not the fun kind (is there a fun kind?!) of mud trust me or Medsker lol.

You probably think we're nuts but Utah is rocks and once in awhile the trail gets slippery thats about it. The only mud bogging in most of the state happens on private land or its illegal and big time ammo for the environmentalists :-\

Sorry bud. Come give the rock a try sometime its going to be different but its good stuff.

if you go out by smith and Edward's and continue west up by willard bay theres some pretty big holes u can get stuck it, i flooded my jeep the first week owning it, being a teen and thinking my jeep can do anything

I like to get the MOAB mud on my jeep and then bring it back to Farmington and deposit it on my grass... all you have to do is pull up on the grass and then put a sprinkler under the jeep and let it sit for half and hour... lol
