I went into a car lot to look at a dodge 2500 and wound up picking this 01 Ford F250 Lariat up instead.... it has leather heated seats, the 7.3 turbo diesel, auto tranny and its running on 18 inch tires...

Its pretty nice! just need to chip it and get a better intake system!

nice! Just curious, why the switch from the Dodge to the Ford? I'm kind of in the market for a 3/4 ton diesel and weighing options.

the 7.3 powerstroke is a good motor....but the Fuel mileage of the dodge is about double what the ford gets but the ford is a nicer truck to ride in me personnaly i think im gonna get sell my cummins and buy a duramax real shortly

I spent considerable time researching and going back and forth on this. The only draw back to the Dodge of same era is no crew cab. That killed it for me. Ended up with a Duramax. Fords are nice rigs.

I have always been a ford man until I got 4 jeeps... then I kind of just went duh.... I went in looking at a used dodge and they couldn;t sell it due to it was just traded in... the ford was very nice inside and out and was the right price....

My bosses 07 dodge only gets 14 mpg with the new 6.7 diesel... from what I have read on dieselbombers.com only the older dodge 12valve got the better mileage... all the others were getting around 14 mpg as well...

But stuck more often.

My 02, just like yours, but with a flat bed and 305 tires gets 12 mpg and it's killing me. I just wonder with 260k on it, is it worth it to do the intake/exhaust upgrades? Nice truck by the way. I've been happy with mine the last two months or so.

I've had both the 7.3L and the Cummins. In most ways I really miss the F*rd, but the Dodge is a decent/good truck. I do get a little better mileage out of the Dodge, but I'm not even close to 20 mpg. I'd guess around 15-16 vs. the F*rd at about 13-14 on the same commute. I'd love the F*rd with the common rail Cummins and a stick shift. :D That'd make me smile a lot.

I'd buy another 7.3L if something happened to my Dodge

Nice truck. I hope you are happy with it. Beautiful find. As far as the Fords go you got the best of the crop. Keep us updated as you drive it more and modify it.

I bought it with 127500 and now have 128400 and it rides like a tank and has bumpsteer bad... I hit a bump on I-15 and almost hit the cement barrier.....

From researching on dieselbombers.com I have found a company called TS performance that makes a 6 position switch with a chip that you can put 6 different levels on it and one of them is economy that some say has raised their mileage up to 16 on the ford.... so that might be my first buy seeing it has the bigger aftermarket exhaust already...

my work truck is a 99 7.3L powerstroke just turned 350,000 on the stock engine, still powerful as ever i have plugged a programmer into it and turned it up, only draw back is the transmission only lasts about 100k the truck loaded with fuel and tires is about 13,000 lbs all around great truck and gets around 17mpg. My personal 05 cummins turns about 14 mpg runnin 37's and only intake and exhaust, and will pull a 4runner up parleys at 80, both are great trucks, ford going to the 6.0 was the worst idea ever, being the reason i went to dodge instead of ford because of the 6.0 i put three headgaskets in it and 2 egr cooler but was a nicer ride and more comftorable than the ford.

Nice truck, I had a 2002 F-250 for years. When I sold the truck, it had over 230,000 miles on it and ran like a champ. I would pull my toy hauler (7000lbs) up the pass from Palm Springs to Beaumont in Ca and it would pull very nicely. I averaged about 14-15 mpg on 34's. Good find for you!
