Don't worry...I had my lumber sitting in front of my house for a good 1.5 months from Oct-Nov getting drenched. All was good (with the lumber anyway 🤣 )

Exciting to be at this step. Nothing better then getting progress on something you've wanted and worked for for so long.
Yeah the weather concerns me none.

It really is exciting! I’m a little anxious but it’s all good

If you don’t like excessive updates and pics, unfollow this shi…
He came today and put in a few hours. He wanted to get the walls up but we have some dumb wind advisory so he decided not to. He’s been such a good communicator so far I freaking love it. There have been a few questions that he checked with me on that he could’ve just done his thing and I wouldn’t have even known but I dig that stuff.

I decided I want to take a pic from my bathroom every time it gets worked on, just for fun.

He’ll be back on Monday to stand up the walls. Trusses were supposed to take two weeks but he said he got an update today that they should be done on Wednesday so this could go really fast! Much excite.

Today was awesome. I actually took a break from work and helped them stand up the walls. I’m pretty good with dimensions in my head and visualizing but getting walls up made it sooooo much bigger than it was when it was just a foundation. I’m starting to get really excited!

Having a backyard shop has just been a dream of mine for so long, it’s pretty surreal tbh.

They weren’t going to come today because the trusses won’t be here until tomorrow but then the truss guy said maybe today… so he came out for a few hours and just worked on little stuff in preparation. But now the truss guy said they might not bring them today. Typical. The sheeting is on the front so the full size is being represented now. Yikes!

Also the contractor found something dumb that the foundation guy did. I never would’ve noticed or thought about it.

There’s supposed to be a notched out spot here for the garage door track (and door) and there’s not one. So he was telling me our options- to add a bunch of lumber all the way around and move the garage door in which we all agreed was a dumb idea or to cut it out. He said he didn’t know how we should cut it out since he’s a framer. I said I bet an angle grinder with a diamond wheel would be money and both guys thought I was crazy. The little cut is from me barely touching it with my 4.5” grinder that still had the diamond wheel on it from cutting retaining wall blocks. So I told him I’d get a 7” grinder after work and have it sorted out for him before tomorrow. It’s going to suck a little and the finish on the floor right there will be dumb looking but oh well it’s still the right call, given our options. A pic of my other garage door in case you don’t get what I’m saying.IMG_3257.jpeg

I had to do this cutting for my garage doors. With the ICF’s I used for my foundation I did not have an easy way to form the notches. It wasn’t hard to do, but it was messy.

I also had to do a similar cut. Not bad, just time and dust. I used a circle saw for most of it, and then a grinder to finish.

My neighbor was spying on me with his drone while I was cutting. He’s mad he won’t be able to see my yard from his deck anymore. He’s cute like that. You can see the 13 yards of topsoil that showed up today too. My body hurts.

Now you guys are making me wonder about my garage and how the door goes. There are no notches in the stem wall for the door track. The track is behind a 2x that is mounted vertically to the framing (likely not the concrete) and wrapped in white facia

@Hickey yes, my tractor's name is N-Swift. I thought about renting a skid steer and driving it around to come in the back gate but decided I need the exercise. It's like going to the gym, but for men.

I expect there are many different ways to skin a cat and it depends on design.

Running excavation equipment is like playing video games, but for men.
I thought really hard about renting a dingo because it would totally work but then my inner voice was like "don't be a pussy" and I was feeling cheap. Lately when I feel like being cheap I've been trying to grab on to that feeling and hold on for dear life because I should

I can relate. I have shoveled at least 100 yards of dirt, gravel and bark at my current residence. Only rented the power wheel barrow when I poured my garage floor. That was money well spent.

Noted for posterity, I let that one go
