Yeah the flags were a complete mess. Nobody knew what they actually "meant". Unless they made their own rules?

Yeah and there were like 3 or 4 separate flag guys and one side of the course was red flags and the other was yellow. I don't want to sound like I'm complaining as it was still way fun but some of the competitors went halfway around the course on red flags and passed during yellow as well. I'm just glad no one was hurt considering the calamity that happened.

Well typically a yellow is just a rolling caution to slow down. Red is supposed to mean stop. It was me that DNF'd. Sheared 3 bolts on my highsteer arm... Sucked cause I was having a blast! I was bound and determined to catch back up to first!:D

Yeah yellow is no-passing, no jumping, use caution; race continues. Yellow is usually area specific to the hazard, not the entire course.

Red is everyone stop where you are.

Red on lap #1 should be a race-restart. So Robby's flop should have restarted the race over completely.

Your rig is sweet. I was sad to see it down and out.

Yeah, we went over the flags before the race but they were either being missed or ignored. I can't imagine trying to organize a race like that though and I was just glad to participate.

I don't blame the drivers, I blame the flag wavers :) but yes still a very awesome event, that I will be in next year.

I guess I should give a brief report of the trip-
Friday morning wake up and pack everything and hit the road to Delta. Get there and get checked into the hotel just in time to hurry to the fairgrounds and make it to the driver meeting. Rainy and cold... Awesome. Got there a couple minutes late and didn't know we get a sweet packet with course maps and run order etc. Find out we're on course 4 so we head there and the rain stops just in time. Find out we don't have a score card when I'm up so Mike runs and gets them for us. Super nervous about the course but excited.
I didn't have trouble with any of the courses but 7, 8 & 1.
Course 6:
image.jpg
Course 7 just had big rocks and everyone kept getting stuck. I totally got stuck and timed out.
image.jpg
That was the end of day one. Went to dinner and came back later to see what was going on. People were hanging out at the courses so we walked the courses for the next day and I took a very very very muddy test lap on the race course.
Day 2 started rainy again and was not good for the courses we had coming up.
Course 8 had the log of doom but I opted to go over a cone to avoid getting stuck and made it through... Until the last little drop before the final gate where I became quite stuck it sucked because course 8 was a spotter ride course for -15 points and I lost those points.
image.jpg
Course 1 was the other course we could use spotter ride for and it was awesome until the last section where I needed a rock moved. I then hammered out of it.
image.jpg
Course 2 was awesome. We had the best score in stock class with a -1!
image.jpg
Course 3 was a little weird with the rock section at the end but we made it through without much fuss.

After the race and awards we departed for Sand Hollow! Got there at 11:30 PM and crashed for the night after lying there for an hour or so trying to decompress from the excitement of the time at the comp.
Woke up the next morning excited to hit some trails with Kevin (kmboren) and take my son on his first trail. Headed to the staging area and were getting all packed and my son started coughing so hard that he puked so my wife decided to pull the plug on him going and took him to instacare. Turns out he had two ear infections and croup. We never know when he's really sick because he's such a tough/good kid. So he didn't get to wheel with me at all and I'm sad about that...
We ran Sliplock gulch with Kevin and it was fun as always.
image.jpg
I defeated my old nemesis obstacle again and Kevin attacked it but just couldn't get the right line in his XJ.
image.jpg
Kevin had to jet after Sliplock so we cruised back to the staging area and picked up another friend and headed to Double Sammy
image.jpg
The first obstacle is a tough one and I've never made it up. I tried and tried and just couldn't get it to go. Mike pushed me out of the way to try his own line and grenaded the passenger u-joint instantly. Even backing off slowly destroyed the ears. Oh well, that's what we have spares for, right? Well, the spares and tools were with my wife in the truck at the instacare. Luckily she finished there pretty quickly and came to our aid. I met her in the parking lot and got what we needed. I headed back up and parked my Jeep and seconds later my heater hose exploded. Oh well, right? We put in Mike's spare, temporarily fixed my hose and headed down. Not a bad day really.
Monday morning we got up and headed to meet Kevin and run Plan B. He has been really excited to show me that trail and now I see why. It's very similar to the Maze and was a lot of fun! I am excited to add it to the rotation.
image.jpg
We got everything loaded and went for some lunch at a delicious steak burger place, hit up a splash pad so the kid could have some fun before the drive and then hit the road. Thank goodness my wife is so patient and loving so I get to go on trips like this.

What an awesome weekend! The only bad thing is that we have to wait another year for old school to come again and probably 4 months before heading to sand hollow again due to the heat.

It was awesome. The way to Plan B is miles of dunes and I got air over 3 of them in a row while driving right next to Kevin.
We'll probably plan a trip back down there over Labor Day.
What we doing before then, Moab? HTT?

With the way I've been treating my jeep lately I decided a trip to the JY to get a second set of spares was in order. Note to self, they're $34 at PNP and $20 at Tearapart.

Having them sure makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside :D

We should do sand hollow or moab over 4th of July weekend....or Ephraim or any where really

It seems like it'd be really really really hot anywhere on that list besides HTT in July but I would like to get out somewhere since I have the 4th off

Last I heard the rubicon was practically paved. Weather.com says the avg on 7/4 in Moab is 98 degrees. I thought it'd be a lot hotter and might be good with that.
