I think he meant tube....I may be wrong though....

Pipe is for poop, not for cages!!

Uhh, CAST IRON/PVC pipe is for POOP...... I don't think he used either. Steel pipe is for cages!;)

I USED PIPE!!!

why pipe?
1- it's temporary
2- pipe is way cheap
3- pipe is stronger than bondo and rust
4- I had some bent pieces laying around
5- It's getting cut off after turkey day anyway.

When I get serious about tubing it, I will use DOM and PIPE. The DOM for the main structure, but the sliders will be sleeved/capped with pipe.

P.S. It is schedule 40 A-53

Sch 40 takes abuse better...doesnt dent as much.
cages have to be built with DOM though.

like I said, the redo after turkey day will be DOM. This current version is only meant to be a temporary dealio, to facilitate a wheelbase extension, so I can go to Turkey day. It is much stronger than what I had in there before- rust and bondo.

ok let me generalize a little better...SCH-x is for plumbing....not caging!!

From my VERY limited personal experience, there is even a big difference between DOM and HREW as far as elasticity. When we were benging pieces for Andy's Bronco, we had to go sometimes 5-8 degrees past our desired angle to accomodate for the backlash as we let pressure off the die. When we let pressure off, the DOM would spring back significantly whereas the HREW we used for the comp chero-car did not have as much...maybe 1 degree past our desired angle was necessary...HREW is cheap. I think andy has about 120$ into the entire cage in the Chero-car. you don't get much cheaper than that...

Sniff Sniff....what is that smell.....

Looks good! Now cut it off, and re-do it with DOM...:D Seriously, it's prolly pretty strong, much stronger than the stock roll bar thing that was in there. Plenty strong for temporary use. I do still think you should cut it off when you can though, and re-do it with DOM (as you have planned). Looks very similar to how I did mine (so I like it!).
