New bank time

yeah right, I don't care the size of any corporation, company, firm, etc, they can all still treat you like an individual if they want to. ;)

You bring up another good point about CUs though, you can withdraw money from ANY CU ATM and not be charged a service fee for it.

I have nothing against banks, my brother always tries to get me to bank at his bank (he's the assistant branch manager at Zions in South Jordan) but I refuse to pay for services I can get for free, not to mention pay higher rates.

Some banks are getting on board the No ATM fee bandwagon . . . but not all.

Don't get me wrong: there are lots of things that banks do which I consider to be vile. I agree with the sentiment that banks don't seem to care about individuals as much as they used to.
I remember when going to the bank with my grandpa was the highlight of my week. Now, it's pure drudgery.

That being said, at least the banks are contributing their fair share of the tax burden.

I do wish that more corporations would remember that it's as, if not more, important to take care of people who are giving you money, than it is to get their money.
The principle of Karma is something I fully agree with, and it makes me sick to see how many lose sight of their humanity in the chase for the almighty dollar.
And I understand that CU's are more "human" than most banks are . . .

BUT that still doesn't allow these pseudo-bank CU's to escape the fact that they are banks marauding as CU's just so that they don't have to pay taxes.

Wrong is wrong, even if both parties involved have "unclean hands."

And anyone who disagrees with me is a "smelly head"

I'm also thinking about switching banks. How does check cashing work with America's First CU? Do you have to wait until it clears to get the money? They seem to be pretty good with loans, true?

\.and the only person I could think of off the top of my head that wrote in opposition to usury.

;)

God is against usury as well.

contributing their fair share to the tax burden??? That is where I will forever disagree with your objections to CU's. The government takes TOO MUCH of our money. If it is the form of fees that the banks have to levy against their customers, it is no less repulsive than taxing us outright.

ah, screw. I'm too sick to argue. This makes like the third or fourth round. Argh!

Zions for my company & personal... Jordan C.U. for my auto, U of U for Candaces auto. Can't say I've had a single issue with any of them. I've been with Zions for ~20 years now, my mom & I opened my account with a $20 I found in the gutter as a kid :D

Third or Fourth round? Imagine if you could get PAID to do this for a living!

And you, sir, are . . . a "smelly head" (see above post).

Two wrongs do not make a right.
Fine, the government takes too much of our money . . . I doubt you will find ANYONE, other than democrats, who will disagree with you on that one.
But, you and I feeling that the government taxes us too much does not justify people evading taxes.

Do high taxes justify tax evasion?
If taxes are too high, you change that by voting politicians into (our out of) office who will (not) lower them (cough, Matheson, cough, Clinton-Obama/Clobama . . .), NOT by encouraging large organizations/corporations to evade their potential tax burdens.

Edit:
Usury
u·su·ry (yū'zhə-rē) pronunciation
n., pl. -ries.
1. The practice of lending money and charging the borrower interest, especially at an exorbitant or illegally high rate.
2. An excessive or illegally high rate of interest charged on borrowed money.

First: usury is illegal.

Second: are you saying that lending money to borrowers, and charging the borrower an amount of interest which is higher than the interest you are paying on the money, is wrong?
If so:
1- Your precious credit unions prescribe to this practice as well . . . and before you point to the lower rates that CU's charge, remember that we are talking about TENTHS of a percent in difference. This amounts to a good amount of money over time, but it is hardly unreasonable, especially when different CU's will have tenths of a percentage difference between their rates . . . heck, I've seen banks with better interest rates than some CU's.

2- Banks and CU's have to stay in business somehow, and these interest rates are how they do that.
